Default S2000 Rental in Japan

Probably a massive long shot but does anyone know if it's even possible to rent an S2000 in Japan? Decided I'm going to go for ~10 days or so in October and I'd love nothing more than to spend a day driving the mountain passes in an S.

No idea if such a thing would be possible. The value of the car is pretty high and insurance is ridiculous. I paid over $950 for three months of collision (not including comprehensive).

I would imagine it would be super pricey. What type of international license do you have? Where are you going to be staying/visiting?

I'm guessing you are going to head out to the country side since you are planning on going some canyon roads? I'd been to car rentals in the country side in Japan. Cars like the Honda Fit are actually the average size there. The Fit was our first rental before it was avail in the US. The 2nd time we rented the Suzuki Swift again their standard size. I don't recall they have many rental cars as big as a Camry or accord. Cars like the Scion XB (the boxy one?) looks like a SUV (Chevy Tahoe) there (saw one in Kyoto). Also road are extremely narrow as well, I think its more like no more than our 1.5 car lane split into 2.

Any chance of finding the S2k would be in major metro exotic rental in Tokyo but does it really come close to things like Ferrari? I dunno.

The country rental folk simply took the California license and let us off. My friend drove the pissed out of that Fit on wet unpaved hill roads as a rally car, the nice folks still bow to us on return despite it was pretty much cover with mud.

Good luck, if you ever find one let us know. I guess you can drive RHD manual?

Renting cars that have been out of production for years is tough anywhere.

I stay in the US and have always dreamt (may sound corny) of driving the whole initial D collection through the mountainsides of Japan!
