2017 Rolex 24 at Daytona Jan 28-29th
After a short offseason, the Rolex 24 at Daytona kicks off the 2017 IMSA Weathertech Sports Car Series. Even though its a 24 hour race, last year showed us its a sprint to the end with some close finishes, even between teammates.
This years race has 55 entries, mostly comprised of full season entrants with quite a few one-offs from European and American teams that compete elsewhere such as the FIA World Endurance Championship. Exciting for this year are the brand new for 2017 LMP2 and Daytona Prototype international (DPi) cars. These 2 different types of cars will compete against each other for overall victory in the Prototype (P) Class. The Prototype Challenge (PC) class sees a handful of familiar faces return, while some of the others, looking to the future, have moved on to the P class. 2017 will be the end of the PC era. The Grand Touring Le Mans (GTLM) class sees 2 brand new mid-engine Porsche 911 RSR's, and a surprise by Ford to bring all 4 Ford GT's to Daytona. The Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) class bolsters the field with 27 entries, Lamborghini having 8 of those with Huracan GT3's. New for 2017 in GTD are the Lexus RC-F GT3, Acura NSX GT3 and the Mercedes AMG GT3.
More info on the classes can be found here: The Classes WeatherTech SportsCar Championship
And the entry list here: http://sportscarchampionship.imsa.co..._entrylist.pdf
IMSA have released the following informative video on how to tell the difference between the cars/classes and more info on them.
Race schedule
TV Schedule - IMSA have said we'll be able to use FS Go with FS1 authentication for streaming. If you're outside of the US, the race can be streamed in its entirety with Radio Le Mans commentary on IMSA.tv |

Qualifying results http://results.imsa.com/Results/17_2...03_Results.PDF
Action Express 1-2 with Rebellion in 3rd for P
Ford GT 1-2-3 in GTLM with Risi's 488 in 4th.
Ferrari 1-2 in GTD followed by an Aston. NSX's qualify 7th and 9th.
Interesting to note that only 2 PC cars were faster than the GTLM pole.
