I have this kit sitting on my garage waiting for a reason to install it. I love DIY and aspire to build my own motor someday. This is my kind of build. Subbed.

All nice and clean, but are you sure you should have done than with the bores? If i were you, i wouldn't touch the bores at all

I am not sure at all! I got the advice to do that from Jason at CNCSpeedshop.

the donor long block was a 04 F22c that was turbo charged for like 50000 miles but had something like 80000 miles total. the crank and rods were perfect too. So if worst comes to worst I'll rebuild another motor with that 2.2L crank/rods and my AP1's pistons.

I used an electric variable speed drill on the middle rpm range (1500 rpm?). 10 passes each bore. used 1/4th of a quart of ATF per bore to keep things lubed.

When a friend used to build engines all he'd use was plastigauge and it seemed to do the trick, just like the honda service manual suggests. I don't remember hearing about a spun bearing, and my motor lasted 30k+ miles (b series) before cracking a sleeve (completely unrelated).

I've never tried manual re-honing a cylinder by hand to try and clean it up, but it probably can't hurt as long as it's done right. The big problem with the F series is the damn special coating..
