What colour are you planning on getting it painted? Since you're not having fun with black might as well do something different, might I suggest techno violet BMW? It would kind of tie it back to your E36 M3 roots too

P.S. I was the one who on Reddit who asked about the mousepad, hello again from your fellow bean counter here
I actually didn't notice until I pulled up at work. Hyper focused on the bean counting right now. Sup haha

I'm gonna stick with black-it looks great clean and will look even better once I settle on a set of wheels and a shade of bronze. A full on color change would be prohibitively expensive anyways. Can't justify spending that much money on a depreciating asset . Not really a fan of Techno Violet either. I have a guitar that color, and it's awesome, but I can't imagine driving a purple car.

Finally got the Ohlins installed and grabbed a set of TSW Interlagos 17x9+63 from my buddy. Also picked up one of the original Gernzhuasts as the T1R-70EM was uncomfortably loud for daily and installed a CT engineering intake. Car is quicker now too, which is a plus. Removed the hardtop to enjoy the beautiful San Diego weather but I'm pretty sure I'm going to gut it once I get my new place with a garage. Full on roadster life in the summer and hardtop for the other 9 months a year.

Looking back at post #5 of this thread I feel kind of ridiculous for how quickly this spiraled out of control for me but it was so worth it. I loved the car before, but it's absolutely better in every way now.

One of my co-workers picked up a LS3 C6 so I introduced him to autocross. Fun car.

I absolutely love seeing the hint of gold poking from behind the spokes while I'm walking up to the car.

Trying to make it out to Buttonwillow on the first weekend of June if I can get new tires and pads sorted before I move. Otherwise I'll just do another autocross and try to get some proper pictures taken.

No major updates right now, just enjoying the hell out of the car. Picked up an Amis shift collar today and was pleasantly surprised by the improved feel. I love this car Here's how she sits currently:

New valve cover, painted some corroded parts, and wrapped the CT intake tube. I love how the bay looks now but I can't recommend the CT Engineering intake to anyone. Took a surprising amount of work to get it to fit properly. Trimmed the carbon fiber cover in a few places and added foam underneath the lid to stop rattling.

And here's some 911 engine porn:

Dad's 1970 911T Targa. Stroked to 2.4 liters from 2.2, E cams, higher compression. Was his daily driver for 2 decades so it's cool to finally see it running again.

Car looks good man, how's the CT intake compare to stock in terms of sound? I've heard it's fairly quiet.

Im surprised I haven't seen you at any of the local SCCA events in SD. Are those 245's squared on the interlagos? Are you rubbing the fender lip or did you have them rolled? Ive been contemplating about picking up a set for autox and track but don't want to bother with rolling the fenders.

It's louder than the stock intake, but I can't hear it over the exhaust at full boil with the hardtop on. Apparently it sounds really nice from outside the car though, which is cool. I did a short "track" day at a go-kart track back in July and was told I had the best sounding S2000 there. Gernpipe+CT

I haven't been to an event since May sadly; spent a few months up in SF for work. I should be going to the 10/15 event and I just signed up novice school on 10/23. I did the school back in 2014 with my E36 and it was a great experience. I'm definitely off pace with the SD STR group and while I want to blame that on tires (300tw PSS can't compete with the RE71Rs) I know there's a lot of time I can make by just driving better. What's your car look like?

Yep! 245 square Pilot Super Sports on 17x9 +63 interlagos (painted Kaiser Silver), running about 1.6 degrees camber up front. Fenders have not been rolled and I haven't noticed any rubbing. I would definitely rub with 255s so I plan on getting the fenders rolled when I finally take the car into paint.

November was fun a month. Put on about 3,000 miles driving between SD and NorCal, did two track days, and two autocrosses. The car didn't skip a beat, but I really need a new set of tires and pads

Thunderhill/Blacktrax Test and Tune:
Possibly one of the most exciting things I've done, ever. Having only participated in autocross and events at go-kart tracks the speeds at Thunderhill were fairly intimidating at first, especially since I wasn't 100% confident in the Stoptech pads I was running (more on that later...). Jei and the rest of the Black Trax crew (as well as the attendees) were all extremely friendly and willing to share knowledge on how to learn the proper lines and brake points. I had an absolutely fantastic time blasting through the gorgeous scenery to the symphony of VTEC. Sadly I was having some camera issues (go-pro fell off the mount, then the battery died) during my quicker runs so I don't have much footage to share.

Also, it turns out the used Winmax W4s I bought were actually used OEM S2000 pads. Really shitty to learn 24 hours before the event. The seller quickly refunded me and said he must have switched the boxes up, but I'm a little too cynical to believe that. The Stoptech pads were actually fine at Thunderhill given that I was running in the beginner group and on PSS instead of the more popular 200tw tires, but I was still getting fade towards the end of my sessions and pedal feel was pretty terrible on the drive home.

Enjoying the wonderful Sacramento weather before heading up:

And my favorite shots, courtesy of Bill Wang Photography

Short clip (love the J's 60RS on the car I'm following):

I ended up getting a ride with Jei in his car at the end of the day and it was pretty shocking how much faster a competent driver in a well setup car felt. Braking later everywhere, always on the throttle, counter-steering all over the place. Thunderhill turned into a 90mph rollercoaster

Grange/Racefreely toy drive:
This was my second Racefreely event and despite being fairly ill-prepared I'd say the car did quite well. I somehow lost my lug key after Thunderhill and didn't have time to source new parts between the two events so I was unable to rotate my tires or bleed the brakes, oh well  . After struggling with grip all afternoon I managed to lay down a 1:08.2 which was the 2nd fastest time of the day and 3rd fastest time overall for the club. Only car quicker than me that day was a WS6 Trans Am with a sequential box, 140tw tires, trick suspension and a butt load of power (ran 1:08.1). The reigning time in the club is a 1:08 flat from a S2000 with the standard mods on RS3s. Planning to break into the 1:07s next time I'm out there by improving my lines. I could simply get a set of grippier tires but I'm not 100% certain I want to make that compromise until I pick up a second set of wheels. My PSS are fine for the street but after the last month the car definitely feels looser than it did 9,000 miles ago. Enough text, here are some pictures:

Over the next month or two the car should be going through some changes. First up is a 2001 AP1 front sway bar:

The stiffest OEM front bar (identical to the CR) and about 33% stiffer than 07 OEM front bar. Thought I'd try a relatively subtle increase before jumping to the more popular massive autocross front bars.

Will also be ordering front camber joints (and possibly RCAs) and stiffer front springs. Planning on doing a 11k/10k Eibach setup on my DFVs after riding around in a friend's car.

Not much has changed in the last 2.5 years other than picking up a few extra bruises and around 20k miles. Made the move to 12k/10k springs and picked up a set of Tire Rack C4s to run on the street. I was actually on the fence about running these because TE37 reps (with a bit of SSR Type-C), but they looked good and commuting on $3k wheels seems silly. Also, they look really good.

To further embrace my inner ricer I plasti-dipped my track wheels blue, which actually looked kinda cool:

Didn't last long:

Got a sweet Corgi/Aussie mod. She had her first S2000 ride today and kept crawling into my lap. I don't think she likes how my exhaust sounds haha

I also switched to a SOS NSX-R shift knob and it might be one of my favorite mods. Shifting feels more delicate and precise compared to the countersunk Moddiction knob I was using before; it just makes one of better tactile sensations of the car even better.

Right now I'm trying to decide what's next for the car. I need to either get the car repainted or collect the vandalism insurance money and just continue to drive the shit out of the car with keying marks and a messed up front bumper (that one is my fault, Buttonwillow excursion). There absolutely is something appealing about not having to worry about paint or bodywork while driving the hard but on the other hand, a car that drives this well deserves to look good too. It's relatively easy to hide all the damage in pictures, but the car is definitely a 10 footer in person.
