King Tut's 2006 AP2 Rio Yellow Pearl Time Attack Build
This build was started when I totaled my 2006 Laguna Blue Pearl S2000 at Sebring International Raceway on August 29, 2015. I had a total loss of brakes in the brake zone for turn 10 (Cunningham Corner). The brake pedal went to the floor twice, and I ended up going into a tire wall at 85 mph. The car was just about finished and ready to be run in NASA TT3 this season when the wreck occurred. I decided I couldn't give up, so within a week I started looking for the lowest priced 2006+ BONE STOCK S2000 I could find. I ended up with this Rio Yellow example with 140,000 miles for $11,000. I then began the expensive process of replacing the parts that broke on the Laguna Blue Pearl car while trying to reuse everything that I could. The process is complete, and I will be competing in the NASA Mid South and NASA Florida regions in the TT3 class this season.

Glad to see you getting back on track.
Any idea what caused the brake failure? Or was the car too damaged to tell what occurred before the crash vs. after?

I pulled the brakes and lines off all four corners with no obvious damage. I know I got the Stoptech Trophys up front hotter than they had ever been because the rubber tube that goes over the bottom crossover tube melted on both sides. My guess is just severely boiled Motul 600 brake fluid as the only other culprit could be the ABS pump, and I did not have a method of testing that. This occurred towards the end of the session after setting my quickest lap of the day. The brakes worked fine in the brake zone for turn 7.

I can take some when I get back in town on Monday. I am currently in the process of installing it. It's in the car, but I haven't cut open the rear fender wells yet. I like to use aluminum tape and silicone to seal it up versus the method that Hard Dog recommends. It held up well in the LBP car.
