Pistons copped from their high-performance lawn mowers.

That's actually a hell of an engine for 1966. Leaps and bounds ahead of anything the British or Americans were doing at the time. The Japanese were delivering ground breaking engine technology in the 60's, making everything else obsolete. Up until that I think it was the 1940's Vincent Black shadow that held top speed motorcycle record all the way up to 1972 which was like 15x mph? Which said a lot about that bike for the times.

I really gained respect for Honda, after owning first a 125cc CR125. Then, a 500cc... finally the greatest dirt bike I've ever owned, the CR250R. I'd beat the crap out of these bikes and the Hondas were so reliable. The only thing bad, is you HAD to use proper radiator fluid. Or those magnesium alloy cases around the water pump would just melt on you. But, the powerband! Crazy good, stone stock. Handling was superb. Very predictable, even on the worse courses or trails.
Thought you may like this video. Power sliding a CR500R around a plowed field.

All this talk --- I'm gonna want to go out and get that KTM 250 2-stroker! Bad enough with cars, car tools, guitars, guitar amps, camera stuff... What was that saying? "He who dies with the most toys wins." My sig others would have other opinions.

That's the saying Other then cameras, im there with you. Winning!

Just got another guitar amp. A 1966 Gibson Explorer. Gonna restore it and see how it sounds versus my Fender Princeton. So many toys, so little time.

See how the Gibson amp compares to my 1965 Princeton Reverb. These vintage small tube-type guitar amps have killer tones. Studio quality, IMHO.
