Another vote for the SV650. Or if full fairing is your thing which also might help with wind, I'd also suggest an F4i as its pretty darn comfortable. I started on an F4i and very happy I did. Cheap, reliable, decent looking, and gets pretty good MPG.

Edit: didn't see the date. OP probably has moved onto a litre by now...
