Nice write up... I do the exact same everytime I swap in new pads and such... Takes only an extra 5 minutes or so but insures a longer caliper life...

Mac is good at lubing shafts & being delicate with rubber

Learn something new everyday. I had no idea you could use a 3/8ths ratchet to turn the piston back

after doing literally 100s of rear pad replacements between the track and my garage, I never thought to use a 3/8 ratchet. Genius! I've been using coilover wrenches to turn the piston!

I just did all four brakes on my hatch... brake caliper hinge/ slide points had frozen and ended up breaking one. I learned the hard way.
What you need to know is that once it begins to freeze from corrosion/heat it will take a tremendous amount of time and effort to get it out.
Make it easy on yourself and take the extra 5 minutes to do this each time you change brake pads.
