Mechanical Engineer Open Position
Hello everyone,
One of my friends is looking for a manufacturing engineer with a heavy mechanical background. I know some of my peoples are good engineers and wouldn't mind a change of pace!
The company is called Coherent Lasers and is an outstanding place to work. In my group, the newest person has been here for 12 years! The job is a 40-45hr week and pays up to $90k depending on experience.
Job description is below... Experience with lasers is preferred but not required. A strong mechanical background (and a desire for physics!) will make them forget about asking about laser experience!!!
Manufacturing Engineering Responsibility for Optical Head Assembly in AVIA Diode Pumped Solid State Lasers:
Responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing process including methods, equipment and tooling, test and measurement process, etc.
Develop, qualify, implement, and maintain methods and processes for the manufacture of assemblies. Improve the manufacturing process.
Apply principles of LEAN Manufacturing and pull systems to streamline production processes and improve manufacturing cycle time.
Improve yield and quality through continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and working closely with Design Engineering and Quality teams. Monitor key metrics such as yield and cycle time, participate in and lead cross-functional improvement activities. Work with quality team to drive component issues upstream to suppliers
Use the 6-sigma (DMAIC, SPC, DOE, Gage R&R, etc.) continuous improvement process in yield and quality / reliability programs.
Pro-actively engage with NPI and design teams during development and release of new products, and provide inputs to improve manufacturability and yields. Ensure manufacturing readiness for new products. Participate in Product Lifecycle Process reviews, ensuring product and process readiness to achieve yield, quality, cost, and reliability goals. Implement DFM / DFT approaches.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for optical head assembly used in AVIA DPSS lasers.
Improve the process control system, and process capabilities of assigned processes.
Improve processes to achieve productivity improvement and DL cost reductions. Work with Corporate Procurement to support technical aspects of material cost reduction programs.
Provide procedural training for production Leads, Technicians and Assemblers. Release parts, create routings, and maintain BOMs.
Support the quality system and continued ISO certification.
Contribute to the development and execution of the manufacturing process strategy.
Qualifications:
8+ Years Manufacturing Engineering experience with demonstrated track record of accomplishments in cell manufacturing of complex devices with high technical content.
BSME, BSEE, Material Science, Physics, or equivalent required, MS preferred.
Experience with attachment processes for optical components.
Proficient in Solidworks, CAD or Pro-E design tools.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Skilled in statistical data analysis, statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), and 8 Disciplines of problem solving (8D).
Experience with LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma desirable.
Ability to collaborate with teams across the organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be a US citizen or a Green Card holder.
ANY QUESTIONS, SHOOT ME A PM!!!
