I read about this on BARF. So sad. My thoughts go out to his family.
From what I read, it sounds like speed wasn't a significant factor. He was leading the group through a relatively straight section when the front wheel wobbled and lost it. Road surface was dry and clear as far as anyone can tell.
The "take it to the track" comments are in poor taste here.
