I would drop the Accord V6 6speed off the list. Offering a 6 speed manual transmission is hardly "innovative".

The 2014+ Accord Hybrid should have been on the list. It is Honda's first legitimate hybrid car that operates unlike any other hybrid on the market. Almost Prius-like fuel economy without the Prius' sluggishness.

As much as I hate to say this, but the S2000 doesn't belong there either. Honda used a very simple formula to build the S2000. No techno-gadgetry-electro-wizz-bang computer system or anything like that. It was a simple, back-to-the-basic sports car.

When I think of innovations, I think of something new to the market. Something that hasn't been done before. A great idea if you will. There hasn't been much innovations from Honda.

Yeah, because so many previous carmakers have made reliable combustion engines that rev to 9000 rpm and don't grenade after 20K miles...

original Insight
s2000
FCX Clarity
new Type R- well, all Type R's
Fit- I have to explain this one- at the time, no other subcompact was so utilitarian with its magic seats.

that's just my opinion and amounts to nothing

I don't know what to say about these Buzzfeed-style lists other than they are awful. I don't know how they can miss Honda's biggest achievement in the past 15 years, maybe even all time:

Ya, because reliability = innovation.

Insight and s2000 sure, but the insight was overshadowed by the prius. And the s2000s greatest innovation was making a sub 3000lb rwd sportscar that goes to 60 in the low 5s while being cheap to operate and reliable. The rest really is just details. Ap2s with its lower redline are just as sought after as ap1s which may be more collectible in time with its novel 9k redline but for now are less sought after. And im an ap1 guy having owned two. A 300hp fwd hot hatch, even if it is the fastest around a track that most will never see is not innovative, that left out the key detail of that 4 cylinder vtec engine having a turbo, hardly innovative. And the accord v6 with a stick, rofl.

No offense guys, but I'd suggest a Honda enthusiast write these articles, and then get a proofreader as well.

I don't think that the 2015 Civic Type R lapped the Nurbugring in 8 seconds.

I also would NOT call the S2000 highly upgradeable. The only way to get an appreciable amount of extra horsepower is by forced induction.
And anything to make it handle better is expensive as well.

The only change made to the S2000's brakes was a very minor change on pad material in 2004.

And why the heck are you showing a picture of a 2018 Civic Type R prototype in the area you are discussing the 2015 Civic Type R.

What is up with these blog type articles going up lately? This one is really unprofessional. Embarrassing.

Geez, dude. In order to push the envelope the way the day requires... wait for it... innovation.
