Have had a Gen1 since new, 2008
Fantastic vehicle. 84k miles now
Car/SUV like. Handled way better than my prior Ram 1500 and other truck comparables, at the time.
Snow/Ice driving is fun.
Tows my 5k lb boat fine.
I actually like the high bedline of Gen1, because I can get more yard debris in it.
The bed has been indestructible. Few scratches, but composite with not a single dent or gouge.
I don't care if its "ugly", its not ugly looking out the windshield.
Back seat can fit real, adult size people, with no complaints.
Trunk is awesome for tailgating, toss the grill in, without worries, etc.
As mentioned, I had full size before. Handling and size much better with the RL.
Test drove a Taco, it was rubbish in comparison (2008). Drum brakes. TIGHT interior. Horrible backseat, not for adults.
Looked cooler, I'll give you that.
NEW COLORADO looks nice, much improved over OLD Colorado. Would give it serious consideration. But Honda reliability vs GM would give me pause.
I've had a truck my entire life, from 3 to 38. In past work experience, I've used Ford/Chevy/Dodge.
The Ridgy does "truck things" beyond what most people need.

oil futures out till 2018 show inverse of spot prices. As OPEC slows there is demand, which is dropping and shale oil which will rise to offset major swings in oil prices. Plus there are huge stock piles state side now.
unless the market goes wild I think oil remains low and volite. I cannot see these countries agreeing to lower outputs for long.

For most of the drilling here, the price needs to be north of $70/barrel to be in the black, so exploration isn't currently profitable (yet, it's on the rise).

Wouldn't it be correct to say that getting the AWD version would actually give you less performance? It's the same engine, but with the added weight and drivetrain loss due to the AWD, which means it would be slower. Unless there is a chance of driving in low traction conditions (snow/ice/etc) there really is very little reason to pick the AWD version IMO. It will cost more, get worse gas mileage, and have less performance.

Whatever you save up front on the domestic, you'll lose on the resale side. Buy what you like because the true cost difference will be a wash in the end.
You're in Miami so you only really need it if you're backing down boat ramps or something (you said you don't do that). Otherwise, go FWD (for the RL) or RWD (for the others) and save yourself some money on purchase price AND fuel economy. At least drive one before you turn it down. It should put the power down fairly easily, same as a FWD Pilot does.

That may be a local phenomenon. The market is so full of trucks that it's pretty easy to find a cheap one just about anywhere I've lived. It's not like there's a shortage of pickups anywhere...

Seriously consider a Ram 1500 Eco-diesel. If I didn't need the pulling power of a larger truck (2500) that is what I would be driving.

ok so today i was trying to see my APR % options... and it seems Bank Of America offers better than dealerships. Has anyone brought in their own finance numbers to the dealer and purchased a vehicle? is the process the same?
Also, it seems the best price i have received for a 2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 2WD and they are throwing in Running boards and wheels locks, is $34,800 OTD and thats with a tag transfer. any thoughts? its Gray exterior with black leather interior...

I wish they were all like that. Trucks ride like crap, even the best of them.
