A DD idea thread with a different twist

yes I can wrench and yes the budget is pretty set. If I wasn't going to have it on the track it would be way more, but like I said, I am not a fan of tracking something I am not ok with breaking. The more I think about it maybe I am best to teach her how to drive the S2000
Replacing a clutch on the S2000 was more than I wanted to tackle and it cost about $2k parts and labor at the dealer. I would not mind someone who is kind of a beginner driving the car to get better, but I am not sure I would want to teach someone on it just for the wear and tear.

She may not want to do this, but some driving schools keep a manual for teaching, you could buy her a couple sessions with an instructor. I don't know if any rental car companies do anymore (they do in Europe) but you might see if some rental company has a beater manual you could rent for the weekend.

Other than the FWD not bad at all. I will certainly add that option, the Golf R was an option in my other thread before changing things up a bit. I see used ones for as low as $16k with sub-40k miles. How is reliability on these?

I wouldnt daily a RWD if you'll ever face snow. To me, a daily also needs 4 doors. Functional + luxury + sporty makes me think BMW/Acura/Audi
S4 or a newer (lower miles) A4 would be cool. TLX maybe? Nothing wrong with a 335i x drive either, but might not fit budget depending where you are. I can find 2013 335xi's in the low 20s around my area.
