Default Kind of see why you all don't like valet..

So I just started this position as valet, and honestly I understand now why people don't trust valet. In the parking garage, a lot of the times all you hear is tire screeches and motors revving a bit.

Some hotels here in Miami are terrible with parking garages. One in south beach has a parking garage that's 3 blocks away and the valet leave the keys on the tires.
The hotel that I work at, the parking garage is on the property. So it's not terrible and we keep the keys locked in a room rather than a black box.

Working at the hotel for two months, when I'm bringing a car around or parking it in our garage, I hear people romping it in there, turbo'd cars, v8s, or really anything that's quick. Cars aren't given the time to warm up let alone let the initial start up go down to idle.

As for the manual cars, since not all of can drive stick. Myself and a few others are left with the task of driving some pretty nice cars. Mustangs have easy cluthes, bmws are weird to me, the e90 335i I drove I managed to stall, same with the M4.

You'll have some funny stories in short time, here's a picture a buddy took while working valet.

I don't trust family to drive my car, not going to have a stranger.

I usually ask valet to allow me to park it myself. Most are cool with it.

One of my best friends is a valet at a high end hotel, from the stories he has told me I'll never let anyone but him valet any of my cars. Even my daily Fit.

It would a shame someone hurt your Dodge rental car, I'd imagine rear-ending someone in it would cause damage in the tens, possible hundreds if they really hit something hard

I don't understand why anyone who likes their car would valet it? If anything (and if it's possible), pay a bit more to the valet to leave it up front so they don't move it.

I do like that cars are coming with 'valet' options:

If valet'ing the car were the only option and I had to park a mile away, I'd generally park a mile away. Thanks for sharing, at least they let you drive some of the nicer cars. Hopefully you become the head there and maybe can talk a little sense into the ones that aren't using common sense and care. And you might have the only good valet service in town, or maybe within the country.

It's a common sense thing. uber if you don't want to valet. Or, pick a place that valet's in the open so you can see what happens, if it worries you so much. I've never had any issues, but I rarely valet my car. If I'm going someplace to eat and drink, someone else driving is better anyway.

The only time I tried to valet the ACR, the dude working tossed me the keys and said, "you park it." Which, I gladly did!

Stick with a manual and you'll be able to park yourself %90 of the time. I would rather park myself and tip more than if they parked it. Best is when they just leave the car in the spot you pulled up to. That is the biggest premium to me.

I always give the valet money up front and park my car myself. I once had a valet take umbrage and say in a huff "We park Lamborghinis." I replied "That's nice, but you're not parking my Corvette. I'm parking it myself or I'm taking my business elsewhere." I parked it myself.
