Default scanner and CEL, my 99 jag

OK, I think there are folks here who might be able to give me a clue:

my 1999 jaguar xk8 convertible has a new CEL, car of course runs fine and I have replaced or serviced those things that need doing and it has been cel free for months and the batter is new....

but now I have a cel

and I bought a scanner Autophix om 123...it works on my s2000 and my M3, period
I bought another scanner a Bosh pocket scan, it works on my s2000 and my m3, period

scanners cannot connect with something, they physically connect and have a start screen but when told to READ they cannot...what is going on??? anyone had this issue???

I know there are great scanners I can buy for my iPhone or whatever but I have now these two and they both work and the car does not LINK....now it has linked before with other scanners belonging to other folks, but now not with mine....

I have no clue about this cel, I hate to drive it with the cel showing....any clues?????

thanks, I am a member of that forum, they have no clue, each car and each scanner experience seems to be different and nobody has offered a scan tool with experience working on a 1999 xk8 4.0 v8, the convertible. lots of theories as to what is supposed to work and maybe my plug or ecu is bad, no, that's not it. the battery has been replaced months ago, no that's not it, although crucial to proper jaguarism.

I think I have stumped the stars here and on the jag forum....and I have bought two of these things and neither work...and they both work on my Honda and my bmw m3.

I forget which auto parts chain will pull codes for you for free. I think it is Autozone. Not saying theirs will work but I would drive in and see before buying another scanner.

That was a long time ago and hasn't been witty for over a decade... As a big Jag fan; that tired old cliche gets my gears grinding! No offense, to you personally.
