Default Thoughts on 4 door American muscle options

Hey all,

I was curious if anyone has owned a 1st generation (2004-2007) Cadillac CTS V or a 2011+ Dodge charger RT? I have always wanted a V8 muscle car but need something with 4 doors to go with the S2000 and owning three cars isn't an options at this time. The CTS V seems amazing but I've read the rear differential can be a serious issue! The Charger looks great and is likely more reliable, refined, and better on gas, but only has an automatic trans. Thoughts greatly appreciated!

early model CTSV diffs where known to be problematic. I'll bet some aftermarket smartypants have figured it out. CTSV wagon with 3 pedals and you will be a god!

I own a charger SRT. Very happy with the purchase for a daily. It tends to eat tires.

What's your budget? I'm not sure what the used Chevy SS market looks like and if you're looking stick or auto. I'd go look at the SS though if within budget!

Good luck finding a CTS-V wagon in a stick for a good price! But I agree, you'd be a god.

Watch these comparisons

I looked heavily at the Chevy SS. At the time it didn't come with the mag suspension. Not sure if I could have got over the exterior chrome. Motor and interior were good.

Buddy has a pretty new CTS coupe and he hates it. Poor build quality, numb ride, and doesn't enjoy it at all. Looking to dump it at a loss in a couple of weeks.

that doesn't sound real smart. Did he drive it, before buying it?

charger. The age of cts-v you are looking at is too old, maint issues, etc.

Interesting, as the CTS is the best handling car in it's class.

OP if you're on a budget consider a Pontiac G8 GT!

It's not the V if that makes a difference. Car is full of issues from panel fitment, to you name it. He could just have a lemon, but is anxious to trade it in. Hasn't had it one year yet.
