Now back from Aus. Be interested how this progresses. My own spanner work isn't to be trusted so to you Nottm a big

In a week mine goes in for preventative maintenance i.e. replacing the current OEM rod/half gear and double gear at 26k miles with the same ones you bought Jason. Shall re-confirm if my Indy has the ability to check/confirm the boards and MOSFETs are 100%. I may 'pull' the swap.

This whole throttle actuator business is a major black mark warning (bmw).

Well the update is pending Rog

i pulled the faulty unit after getting the carly app help me id which one it was (bank 2). I sent that to a local electronics specialist used by the local Indy.

they are working on it as we speak. Maybe.

they fix ECUs and the like. BMWMAN rated them but i couldnt get my car over to him to fix.

so.. current plan is to plonk that back in, run the car for a bit then shift it on.

in other news i am finishing up in Derby so wont need a daily anytime soon as taking the summer off haha

she lives..

albeit chucking a code for something minor where i've not replugged something in i'm guessing

will whip the intake off tomorrow and take a look. then kick myself.

i actually had 2 codes but located one as a not properly seated plug on a sensor at the front, easily accessible

edit Code sorted.. test drive no2 tomorrow
school run

it works fine Win but threw the code relating to this air pump (similar to the setup on the S2) which only kicks in at cold start so is a pain to reproduce
i took the intake off and did find a loose plug at the front so i cleaned that and seated it properly but now need to do a cold start later and potentially another once it's cooled again to ensure it's fixed
throttle wise it's all good, no more limp home crap and loads of false errors haha.

ECU testing, who i used, can test these units i believe, so £235 incl to rework my fried board and a lifetime warranty on it

I'll run it for a few weeks to ensure it's all good and then she'll go up for sale i guess

How does the sport mode feel now, is it still as jerky as it always was on yours?

On mine it seems like the throttle has smoothed itself out in sport mode, in the beginning it was quite jerky trying to drive off gently but now it's quite nice and I like how it's much more responsive than when it's off.

I'm on 48k now and adding 300 miles a week. Don't think my contract will go much beyond summer though and I assume I'll be back on the train after a few months off so any preventive maintenance might come then, depending how much I can be arsed!

All sorted now

car definitely 'feels' better. Whether that's just placebo or feelgood based on lack of breakdown i dont know

i cant see how a worn cog would affect it much as the whole thing is spring loaded against the motor and so as the throttle bodies so there wouldnt ever be play imo?

Anyway.. onwards. Next sunny day is photo time
