A rather unexpected turn of events has led me here, throwing a little caution to the wind and strongly considering getting back into an Elise... the planets seem to have aligned in my favour where it just seems to work out ok. It'll be very much a 'toy' as I've no need whatsoever for it and will be viewing as an investment that I would happily sell if and when the need arises (I know, investments can go up or down )
Anyway, I missed out on what appeated the perfect car as the chap sold the day before (still hope the buyer might change his mind as not collecting until tomorrow).
So, I am after an early S2, budget under 15k, so realistically just a regular S2 or 111s at a push. Ideally I want a 135R as it just seem the epitome of what the elise is all about and I am in no way fussed about electric windows and comforts.
My search has included Pistonheds, AT, SELOC and Car and Classic, plus the main dealers that I know of, but as some of you have bought and sold recently, am I missing an obvious place to look for one?
Other options... S2K again (steady investment - but I had the best one and a replacement would be not as nice, so going backwards), or an early 987 Boxster... which does appeal and can be had well under £10k, but it's more of a 'car' and less of a toy thing and could possibly incur some hefty bills if you get a wrong'un.

If only
I always read about Lotus Elise and other S2 alternatives and for a moment I wish I had one. I then remember the compromises including no electric roof and potential issues with everything from the heater matrix to the engine and decided in reality to stick to my S2. If money were no object I'd fit Ohlins shocks and then it would be almost perfect with a ride to rival almost anything from Lotus. I wish all fun cars were this reliable.

If they can stop it from leaking like a sieve when it rains, like my Elise does, then they'll be on a winner. Although it's not a Porsche so won't get the recognition it deserves.
I wonder if they'll make a standard S version or whether it'll be a 400 or 410 as they seem to be the only variant coming out of Hethel recently.
I'm in the market for an Evora S this summer, but I can't justify the outlay for the facelifted 400's.
On the subject of reliability, nothing has gone wrong at all on my Elise SC for the last 7 years and it is used as a daily driver.
