Default NIP for speeding from Essex Police

Just received this based on automatic camera evidence. We went up to London 12th November for the day but not via the road stated. This alleged speeding was on Tuesday 6th December. As far as I can see I have to reply saying who was the driver but since the car was here tucked up in the garage what can I say? I may not ask to/see their evidence until it goes to court. Am I dreaming that some scrote might have photographed my car plate and had one made up as cover? Does this happen much/at all?

Thoughts appreciated on the way forward ...

If it goes to court and I win what expenses would I get? Hotels? Flights?

It could well be a doppelgaenger.

However, their ANPR equipment is shite - I would get the photos if you are sure. It could be on an LDV Maxus or something one character different.

I've seen evidence (cannot remember where) of that happening. It was an LDV Maxus, IIRC...

I had a problem once with my insurance company over an issue with a cloned plate. Get the photo to find out what's happening.

Did they identify the car on the NIP?

Thanks guys and yes I am sure we have never been near Chigwell in this life - and that's not just a senior moment!

I shall write sending them photos of my car and ask them to compare with their photos. My number is northern, which corresponds with the supplier name (BMW Carlisle dealer, Lloyds) on the plate. I will ask them if they can confirm the supplier name they have photographed. NSFC but I will also send them a few recent sample mug shots, a couple of renegade OAPs, to compare with who ever they have managed to photograph behind the wheel

The immediate issue is how to complete their form. Voice message left they work weekdays 11am to 2pm. Nice work if you can get it

Doppelgangers indeed

I don't believe that they even look at the photos before sending the NIP.

They are automatically generated.
