I liked my ATR, except it was rather flawed in terms of its gearing. I know the 4.6 final drive kinda remedied this, and many long term owners followed this route to rid the 3rd gear bog down. Great car though, unrivalled in my opinion and a real Q car. I'm surprised they are as cheap as chips, worth a look for anyone wondering about its abilities as a family wagon that handles on rails. They make superb track slags too.
They just aren't as desirable which is a shame - due to those ageing looks.
Did you not consider a DC5?

What colour is your ATR? How much do you want for it?

Cheers for posting the link Tony. Rich, you always said you wanted to buy it off me since we bought it!

Our fn2 is lowered by 15mm, but I am reliably informed by many people that the 15mm Eibachs are a big improvement for ride. I prefer the standard ride height so toyed with swapping it back, but was informed by a specialist that sourcing the springs, the fitting and re-geo was going to be ~£500 and I would end up with a car that rides worse than what I have.

DC5s are still silly money. I'd only get a 2002 for what I paid for that. And whilst a better car, the reason we've changed is to get a newer car than we are currently running. They just aren't good value.

Your civic might want new shocks, worth investigating if it's as crashy as you say.

I like how they look but i don't like them - saw a 2010 Mugen in a showroom, £15k, lovely condition, low mileage, in white ... dripping in nice stuff but it just leaves me cold in terms of wanting to own it.

A shit ride does rather seem to be the norm these days - unless a car is airsprung or has magnetorheologically-controlled dampers. Even that's a bodge since one ought not vary the damping rate unless one varies the spring rate.
