As a 'cheap' but riot FWD car then I honestly think a DC2 Integra such as mine still really ticks all the boxes.

I'm terribly biased however!!

If the idea is to make money, then it's a gamble and if the spend is £20K, some considerable risk attached

If it's fun, that can be had for £5K and a much smaller downside.

Given what the OP has said about his financial circs, I'd say a £5K toy (that will be better than many £30K road cars on the track) is a sounder proposition at this time.

It's MB's fault
I'll take a look at an 08 Elise supercharged on the way home tomorrow.
But I think most decent 111R would suit too - I like peaky engines like the F20C.
But the Elise SC facelift might tick most boxes. They are well down the curve too.

I'm not looking to make anything, but I don't wish to repeat the big residual dive on the diseasal 4 series I run for work

I would deffo go supercharged, Steve. The NA ones don't give the same hit imo, but you do lose in throttle response.

I have seen so many on track, all very quick even in average hands. So perhaps a little dull?
Stick on some R888s or A048Rs and when you're investment comes to £2k, you can thrash f uck out of it and who cares if you smash it up.

Can you do that in your Exige? Will you be driving it thinking 'investment'?

A track car should be something you're expecting to bump and not cry about. That's why the Clios, as fun as they are, are quick.

There aren't many occasions when I agree with wRONg but on this occasion I do, when I had my Polo as a track car it was able to lap Oulton Park full circuit in 2:02 minutes and the only way I could get it around at that pace was because I could drive it like I hated it as i trailered it to the circuit and back plus if I smashed it up I wouldn't have been that bothered - knowing all that it defo gave me a couple of seconds around the track.
