Plus this:

Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 for Nikon F Mount and Matched 2.0x Teleconverter (plus a 95mm #5 neutral density filter). This is what I'm going to shoot the total solar eclipse from Salem, OR on August 21 with. This will give me a maximum focal length of 1,200 mm. Depending on the size of the corona (the sun's atmosphere), I'll probably be shooting at about 800 mm.

^ you will but remember that the teleconverter doubles the focal length but also your f stop.

On a side note, I have the Nikon one. I used it once. Sitting in my camera gear case for years and hasn't been used. Lol

It'll be on a tripod, so losing two F stops with the teleconverter will be OK.

A housewarming gift. I might wait until the local art/craft sale next weekend. There are some seriously talented people in this area.
