Well, we had a great day today DRIVING our cars with the TT group...
One major mishap though...
A guy tried to drill a hole in the side of the mountain like Cortez did on the Dragon.
He was Ok but his BRAND NEW (3 weeks and 1200 miles) BMW M roadster was REALLY hurt.
I have photo's and will e-mail to Dave or Keith to post...
Bob has photo's too...

PS - Keith, where are my photos for my signature? I have not changed anything...

I was a couple of cars behind the M roadster. I didn't see the whole thing (driving can keep you occupied), but I think that he early apexed the corner, with a little too much speed, and couldn't complete the corner.
He was pretty lucky, if he went off about 15 feet earlier, there is a 30 to 40 ft drop off! (at the bottom of this drop off, we did see multiple motorcycle parts)

Here are the pictures form The General. Looks like the guy is going to need more than a body shop, the car appears totalled to me. General, I resized the photos to allow them to load a bit faster. Too bad about the car...

I wonder if having the passenger side window up setup an windshear condition that had an adverse affect on handling ? If he had that window down maybe he would have been able to keep it on the road...
Yes, safety first. No reason to be pushing that hard on public roads. I like doing the mountain runs but usually keep it to about 7/10 of my limits.

No real danger on the runs I go on...
He did NOT know the road, just got the car 3 weeks ago and less than 1500miles (tires not even really worn into the road)
Came into the corner thinking it was like the others and there are 2 places heading up to Neel's Gap that a "2nd gear" turns..... This was the 1st of those he saw......maybe to fast, but he did not know road and again maybe the car well... I am not knocking his driving at all (everyone said he is a great driver) but that is a recipe for a mistake to take place on the first run up the road.
We (as a group) were not going to fast and those of you that know me know I am not driving on the edge on any run and this group was not either...
No need for a track to enjoy DRIVING.
