Moving to Oahu
Hi guys.
This is another "moving to Hawaii" thread with your typical questions.
I have an 03 S2000, stock but lowered on swift springs. Do I need recon? Would I pass?
What vehicle shipping company do you recommend?
I'm working at the HNL airport, finding a place close by would be ideal. What are some other areas to look at? A one bedroom is all I need. Something nice and around $800/month.
thanks

hey man, soon to be welcome!
if you are lowered in any way, yes, you will probably need recon especially in order to pass safety. I'm gonna assume you are not on the stiffest of springs, so you should have no problem passing recon. the others can correct me if I'm wrong, but most the recon guys know s2000s and shouldn't be too strict on you when you get your recon. with that said, if you plan to swap wheels/tire size, I would also do that before going in for recon so you can get your recon checked once and have everything on your recon list. some safety check stations actually check the tire size on your recon sheet, although I was told before that wheels/tires are not a recon issue others can chime in on this. OH! and exhaust too haha. exhaust isn't a recon item either but again, its good to just have all your mods on your recon sheet so that the safety check people don't give you a hard time.
as for living, it will be pretty challenging to find a one bedroom for $800 or less nowadays unless you are living away from the city, or in the "ghetto" areas (no offense to any one), however it isn't completely impossible.
if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to post away, and others will always be willing to chime in and try to help any one out.

yes, lowering springs would require recon. see recon thread here for info: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/hawaii-s...nsion-1116239/
if you have any questions please feel free to post.
for shipping via a container, matson is the only option. for shipping on an enclosed deck, pasha hawaii is the only option.
i have shipped via matson and service was good but not spectacular. friends have used pasha with mixed experiences. next vehicle i ship, i want to try pasha.
for that price range you could find a room to rent or a room mate in moanalua, salt lake or kalihi (ranked in order of safely street parking the s ) via craigslist
gl and welcome!
