While installing some lowering springs on RhinoS2k's car I stumbled on a set of springs spacers still on his rear springs!!! eek2.gif There's 18,000 miles on his car too! New record??? Funny thing is that he only had them in the rear and not the front! confused.gif

Oh so happy to get those things outa there! And as usual, BC over at my house bothering me while I'm working on someone's car...

The best part is that now he knows why everyone else can corner so much faster than him without drifting and how amazed he was that the car felt so stable going 90mph. thumbsup.gif I can't imagine what it must've felt like with those suckers in there!

during the malibu drive, a fellow trojan in an s2k sees my license plate and gives me the V sign...i'm thinking it's V for vtec and think to myself "is he giving all 45 S2K's at this meet the V sign???"

then I see his SC cap...Fight ON!!

haha thanks for helping me yesterday Aaron! Damn you are quite the sage when it comes to the S! Is there anything you don't know how to tune on the S? Man if it wasn't for you I'd probably wrecked my car in the Malibu run today! It's AMZAZING how much faster I can go through the turns w/o braking or nearly as hard, screeching my tires, or drifting through the corners! I felt like a little boy driving a go-kart for the first time! I still don't know how the hell I got through driving my S so long on all those canyon runs before w/o realizing the spacers were still on??? confused.gif I'm just so damn lucky to be alive! haha lol.gif I now finally know the "true" performance feel of the S!

Edit: Loving my HKS lowering springs now! 1.2" front & 1.4" rear drop + Spugen Dual Ovals. Worked awesome during the Malibu run! Guess I'll never know how my stock S really should've handled like rolleyes.gif Do I get to be in the Guiness Book of World Records?? lol.gif

Ya but funny thing is I was actually used to having the spacers(before i knew i had them of course). I saw how many people said the S kicks out in the rears so I thought when I did it was just normal. Guess I got comfortable with the stiffness and adapted to how it allowed me to drift through corners, I've actually come to like drifting after all this confused.gif lol.gif

anyone want to buy a pair of "unused" rear springs? haha jk

They are used for shipment of the cars on those large trailers so they don't bounce up & down.

Wow, just ............wow.

Okay, everyone stop what you are doing, go outside, and check your car for spring spacers. These reports are being posted way too frequently. Honduh should consider skipping these things with as much as the dealers neglect to remove them before delivery.

Please, If you have not PERSONALLY checked out your suspension for these spring spacers, go do so ASAP if not sooner.

New owners, old owners - doesn't matter. Just go take a look.

I don't think Honda should eliminate these spacers if they protect the body from damage during shipment. When I received my car, I remember it had a note hanging from the shift knob or somewhere else totally obvious that was supposed to remind the dealer to remove the spacers. I don't think it's TOO much to ask the dealers to notice that tag and do their job. rolleyes.gif

In your case they probably threw away the tag during a test drive and forgot to remove the spacers during the PDI. I'm sorry that happened to you!

I don't see alot of S2K around with "body damage" from bouncing around the city streets and dips and potholes and speedbumps, etc. when they have actual street miles on them. So, why would they need this extra "protection" when resting on a ship or on the back of a transport truck? Its not like they pick them up with cranes or anything. Just up the ramp, down the ramp. Big deal. Are the transport trucks going off jumps that we don't know of?

My point is that WE put the car thru alot more than what they do to get it to us, and there are no widespred screams over weak fenders and such. Get rid of the liability at the source, so we don't have to rely on Honduh's dealer network.

Thats all.
