My brother installed a manual boost controler on his EVO8 RS to keep max boost till redline and was feeling like a 6 years old after watching Power Rangers (kung-fu powers
First try in 3rd, me at 4500rpm Now from 2nd in VTEC If you wonder how it looks like when the S is NA (V2, Spoon throttle body, header and t1R exhaust with test pipe, 4.57 gears) here is a run against the same car without the MBC. He has only a 3" downpipe and cat-delete. Please forget driver skills involved in this, the EVO driver is my brother and we do not race to win, but to compare the performance gains. It's not really a race, it's a comparison of cars. NA s2000 VS EVO8 If you wonder who was the camera man, well...it was a camera girl (my wife): Camera girl Hope you like it since we finally get to see more than head lamps, right? And regarding the EVO, my brother turned up the boost to stock 20psi with the MBC and was hanging with a M3 coupe till 220kmh bumper to bumper. If you think you can take him with a stock S, please stop This post has been edited by jakub2000 on Oct 8 2005, 10:13 PM

I am supriced that you guys share my opinion that there is NO way a stock AP1 can hang with a stock EVO8. Maybe the EVO in the states is a bit slower, but over here a stock EVO8 kills an stock s2000 just like that...the other 2 videos are not working yet, come back in a 1/2 hour please....

A good friend of mine bought a Evo8 RS...we went to the drags not intending to race each other...I had all his tools in the back of my car when we got lined up next to each other (about an extra 100lbs worth)
He had me at the launch and pulled about 1 car length right there but from the after launch to the finish we stayed dead even. He wasn't pulling at all, kinda like that race you show with the N/A S vs. the Evo. Except he was stock and I was stock. And also, he is a "professional" racer so no he doesn't suck at driving. They are pretty much even. Now, in that vid, the Evo has a 3" downpipe and no cat. That makes a big difference. Spool-up is greatly reduced, top end power is increased a good amount. But I'd think an S with all those mods should have still had him. Either way, the Evo has much much much more potential then the S to be an incredibly fast car. And barely any of them are stock...so chances are if your driving an S, you'll get whooped. -------------------- 00 S2k 6/7/2004 - 1/31/2008 05 MCS 1/22/08 - Present ![]()

1. Which car did you use to shoot the Evo vs. S2000 race? Must be fast to keep up with the 2 cars?
2. Your wife's got good camera skills. 3. Need to race this Evo next... http://videos.streetfire.net/Player.aspx?f...AF-9DCC7F13F5A2 --------------------

Magazine times give the S2000 a 13.9 and the Evo like a 13.4

stock vs stock, from the line, the S gets spanked... It almost does not matter how experienced the S driver is and inexpereienced the EVO driver is...

Notice how I said from a roll, I dont doubt that the evo will pull slightly if you race from a dig, as we cant match the 60ft times that they have.

thats also why I said that he got about a full car length between us from the launch...however after the launch he was not pulling, it was even...just a one car length difference between us...
obviously the evo will have a faster 1/4 time because it can launch so much better. from a roll though, that advantage is lost |

Having recently owned an Evo, I feel compelled to share my experience...
A stock Evo, whether at launch or at roll-on, is SIGNIFICANTLY faster than a stock S2000. I am not trying to talk trash about the S2000, as it has many great qualities, but when it comes to straightline acceleration there's simply no comparison. Without mods, the Evo has nearly twice as much mid-range torque and will pull hard from 3000rpm until about 6000rpm. The S2000 revs, but it doesn't quite pull. If 80% of Evo drivers can't launch properly, that's because it is very tricky to come off the line. The car WILL bog terribly if launched at anything below 5000rpm. Give more revs, and the stock clutch may slip real bad and glaze the flywheel. I bought the Evo back in 2003, and have completed stage 1+ engine mods (dynoed at 275hp and 306tq at wheels). I was able to out-accelerate a supercharged / aftercooled S2000 at a roll-on. Having spend merely $1200 in engine mods, it is clear that the Evo is much more mod-friendly and has tremendous potential. The S2000 not slow by any means, and I don't doubt its ability to beat an Evo or WRX in the twisties. But high-pressure forced induction engines do have power advantage that no one can deny... -------------------- Silverstone S2000 Aspen White STi

no doubt about it, the evo evo's respose to mods compared to the S is amazing. he way I always explain it is this, you forget the torque aswell as the 4wd. When you get on the gas that initial torque on throws you back into your seat. This makes the car "feel" much aster then it may be. Due o the fact that the S does not have much torque you do not feel that push into the seat as you would cars with lots of torque throughout the rpm range. By the time it's at the point where the S is in it's powerband you are already moving, so you still will not feel that push as you would with others. I can't explain very wel, but I hope I'm making sense enough so you understand what I'm talking about.
I have had many a encounter with evo's, and have also witnessed others encounterz against them. From a stop the evo will win no problem, if, the driver can launch properlly. I saw most do not because they really don't. Most just rev to 5k, because I believe there is some sort of limiter stock form, and drop the clutch bogging badly, others just cnnot do it at all. Anyway from a roll I have yet to loss to a stock evo. One of my buddies has an 04 evo, and if you ask him he will admit that my car was pulling away from him on our highway runs. As I've done the same to other evo's aswell. Ofcourse once they are modded it eliminates the chance of the S winning from a roll, but then again you sill have to consider drivers skill. again I am not basing m thoughts because of one encounter i've had, but many. I hope you don't think I'm just rambling on because I to am a fan of the evo. Although through my personl experience, as well as the encounerz I've heard and read about, the evo just losses steam up top, and that's where the S takes over. |

To eliminate this factor, we "race" from a roll and just floor it. No reving at all..just roll and floor. This gives us a car comparison rather than a driver comparison. You get to compare spool up, throttle response ect. We compare drivers at the auto-x and go-kart track |

As this is related to where this thread has gone, I'd like to add my experiences of tonight. I met up with a guy in an STi...all he had was a 3" cat-back and a better clutch. I wanted to see how I'd compare to an STi at this point in my mods...and he was really cool about it. We went to a secluded area and did a race from 0 and race from 20. We also had people watching at the end to give us distances.
In the first from 0 from the start, he got the jump, obviously...he pulled an entire car length in just the launch (sounds like my Evo race huh) then we stayed dead even...friends at the end said there was a car length between us. Then we did a 20mph roll-on...I got the jump as he obviously has some lag being turbo. I pulled to putting his nose at my rear bumper, then we stayed there, again, dead even the entire way...friends said I had 1/2 car length (probably gained in a faster shift). You can see all my mods in my sig...really not enough IMO to put me much higher then stock, besides he had the exhaust which would put him a little above stock as well. Just thought I'd let you guys know, the S2000 isn't slow...definitly not as mod friendly...but stock/stock...its not bad. Overall though, yes, I'd say the STi has more useable power...once you wait for the turbo to spool...which of course doesn't take long with a 2.5L Just no surprise to me that a Lovefab S2k would spank an Evo |

^ an STI is faster from a deatch stop than a EVO and so is it from a very slow roll. We've been racing on a 4 lanes highway, 1 x STI, 1 x EVO, 1 x me and 1 x stock 2002 S and let me tell you the STI was faster from 0-100mph than all of us...passed him only at very high speeds (was NA back than)....oh, just phuck it, we have all nice fast cars, right? let's enjoy them!

The camera car was a modded Mitsu 3000GT with a fat camera guy. When I raced him (20 minutes before the run with the EVO), I pulled on him, but during this run he was on fire |
