So I placed my order for a DL1 and Dash1. Should I have ordered any necessary accessories (I saw things like compact flash card, remote on/off etc.) or are these two a complete system ready to go?

Chris, do you think they would ship mine a.s.a.p. for a Dec 9th event (charge me max. then credit my card later if any additional discount)?

I think you'll probably need to buy a CF card (to record the data) and a card reader (to download it to a PC) separately. I have a couple extra SMALL CF cards (16 MB and 32 MB) that you can borrow in a pinch; those are probably good for three sessions total...you'll ultimately want one that's more like 1 GB, esp. if you start using any of the auxiliary inputs.

Congrats, can't wait to see it in action!

They sell a 256 mb CF card for $68 and a USB 2.0 card reader for $38 so the real cost is another $100+). Is this good or would it be better to buy these locally like at CompUSA? I don't know much about these things; are there Holiday Inn Express's near the tracks?

Try Amazon - I just got a 1GB card for about $90. Note that write speed isn't important for this application, but data integrity is, so go with a major brand like SanDisk, Sony, Lexar etc...avoid Viking and Kingston.

Hi Richard,

No, don't buy your card from Race Technologies. I bought a card from Amazon -- a 512MB card, which should hold more than a weekend's worth of track data, if not more (a buddy of mine says he can log about 10 hours of track time on a 256MB card) -- for half what RT charges for a card that's half as large. Otherwise, I don't think you need anything, save your helmet... :-)

As for shipping by a 12/9 event, I don't have a clue. The GB closes on 12/2, and David mentioned something about needing a few days to process the orders and figure the appropriate discount. But feel free to email him to ask. He can be reached at sales@race-technology.com. Good luck!

You're most welcome DesertRat and CoralDoc. It seems to be working out really well, based on the number of orders posted here and on the other boards.

Best,
