sad but true....
i still think that a real sports car has rear wheel drive and seat for two.... sure there are 4 doors out there that that produces milllions of horsepower... but...put the S side by side with a souped up 4 door and ask a non enthusiast which is sexier and faster????? you be the judge... That artical that the S2k > Evo has to be the biggest bunch of
BS that I have ever read. Don't get me wrong, the s2k is a nice car But comparing it to a Ferarri? >__> please kids. Settle down. I don't think a Ferarri has to rev past 5k to make enought torque to get up their driveway, nor does the paint on the bumper chip like most of the 05s. Yeah, the s2k is sexy, but it loses its sex appeal when it gets dusted on the streets and on the highway. I have yet to see girls at autox events saying how sexy a s2k is. On the other hand, on the streets, there is a good chance if you live in WA state, that your gf (if you have one) has wet her panties when I boosted all over your 210whp on a dynojet. She probably wishes she had a Evo, and it's ok if she can't drive stick. I can teach her. The Evo IX should be rated at 310+ from the factory to begin with and a base flash will put the evo 150+ hp over your precious s2k. Whats hondata going to get you? 5whp? Let's not even begin with the strength of the tranny either. I bet most of you owners are scared to launch your car fearing that it would shatter. This might be my first and last post on this site, but what did you expect when you have such an ignorant and biased artical on the front page? The only thing that artical proves is how insecure you guys are about your car. Any of you s2k owners (if you really do own one) would be sweating your balls off if a Evo rev'd on you on the streets. I have yet to see a s2k on the USCC competition from SCC. Evos on the other hand... have fun using touch up paint on your rear bumpers kids... Honestly, who cares?
The S2000 is a RWD sports car while the Evo is a AWD 4 door rally family sedan. Two different animals of cars all together. Rally cars VS Sports cars. One excels more at another aspect of racing as does the other. One is not better than the other. This is all fact. You can disagree all you want but these few sentences are the truth. There also tends to be a much younger crowd buying/owning Evos and SRT4s. Thats reality folks. I see an EVO or SRT4 as a great gift for a hs senior or college kid. Its just more appealing to the younger crown. If I was younger, in high school, or college, I probably would buy one but once I got done with my degree I would move on like I already have. Theres nothing wrong with that, is there? Just an observation. A couple of my buddies had them in college and then got rid of them for BMWs, go figure. All are great cars IMO, just two different animals (or fruits) BTW I havent read the article on the front page. I will now since you seem very upset..

I think that the s2000 is a nice car but when it comes down to raw ability, it is put on a pedistal until something challenges it, when it does... unless it is a damn near identical car s2000 owners cry about how it's a different vehicle and how "who cares"... then the topic of challenge is no longer relivant because "who cars about speed" and "it's owned by kids", that is your excuse when a less class automobile beats up on the car, when you guys rave about how race ready bla bla bla 9,000 RPM bla, autocross bla bla... if they were SO uncomparable then why in the world are the two cars so often on the track at the SAME time unless it is a official event? The bottom line is, at the track stock for stock... EVO and s2000 are close, drag, not even close, dyno, not even close, dirt, snow, anything besides tarmac... hell even RAIN it's not even close... MOD catagory is the same song just turned up louder, a identical WHP EVO vs. s2000 of the same HP in the mod catagory, the Evolution will STILL take it... ok, SRT-4 you guys have an arguement because it can really only do two things, be fast in a straight line and beat a school bus on an autocross track but talking smack about the EVO is ignorance. Straight up

Don't get me wrong I really like the s2000, I really like the EVO that is why I am buying one however, when a line is crossed and stabs are made then that's just not cool... Alot of people are right, enthus are gone often in these situations but people scream hate to another car because they don't own one, me I have an appreciation for every car and everything it does well and yep, even that damn 500whp NEON, thats "just a neon"... so what it does something good, no need to hate on other cars, just leave it be but putting up a slam on the evo thing was eh, pushing it... cocky has no right to be cocky unless the reason to back it up and the s2000 has no reason to act like the superior being considering it is a rather narrow minded vehicle. But mmm in all honesty, looking at that upper right hand corner, the grey s2000, I love the car and it's almost enough to change my mind about the evo, too bad used ones in nice shape are hard to find not to mention KILLER insurance costs.

I just read the post and it was pretty bad. Although I dont agree with everything said, it was one sided, big time. Not much more I have to say. I will leave with this though. EVOs are great cars. Would I ever buy one? No, I would not. Just not my cup of tea, but to each his own right? |

I agree with you 100%. A lot of S2000 and NSX owners are very cocky. Man I got stomped on over at NSXprime for a simple opinion on a bodykit they basically told me to go back to s2ki and the ricer forums, thus I havent posted in several months. Thats weak IMO. I could have easily bought an NSX, but did I? No I did not, because ever since this car was in its prototype stages I loved the car and what it brought to the table a RWD Honda without the $100,000 pricetag. I am one of the few that thinks this car in OEM fashion is fast enough for me and with my mods its a bit faster. Its no Space Shuttle but its pretty quick for a 5 year old car and I still love it. I know you guys and STI guys or whoever have the same feeling towards your cars. |

Geezus christ, i didn't know such a lil cover story can get so many DSM fellaz all riled up in a bunch. Everybody has there opinions when comparing 2 designated cars of differnt caliburs against one another. I agree, the EVO is one hell of a machine when it comes to proper tuning, but the s2000, is a force to be reckon with. Yes, We'll have the autocross, yes you'll have the drag/rally, whatever. I'm not saying ones better then the other, its juss the proper facts that are being laid down. i didn't know ones opinion, can make a group of people, drive them to the point to crash a community forum, and run a challenge about who's better then who. IMO, i find that weak as hell.
UPDATE: To the evoM users, that came on this board to try and work this out, thank you for the courteousy and respect given. I raise my hat down to you. In a drag race the AWD, Higher HP/ TQ and stickier tires will rape an S2000.
In a road course the two are pretty close. It would be down to the driver. Racing from a roll its surprisingly close. I guess the AWD is a big hinderance once the car hits triple digits on the stock Evos. The EVOs advantage are the ADVAN tires and the AWD to bail out a poor driver. The S2000s advantage would be its lightweight and 49/51 weight distribution. Its pretty stupid to compare on a dyno a turbo charged 2.0L Vs a 2.0 NA The Evo started its life as a lowly Lancer Econo box and got sent to finishing school. The interior feels very cheap except for the seats and it rattles as much as the S2000. However the S2000 is a convertible so it has a right to rattle since it doesnt have a fixed roof. In looks department its all in the eye of the beholder, The S2000 has classic sports car lines. The Evo has a tacked on body kit. a wing that is functional but you can hang your clothes on it or knock down telephone poles as you cruise. Both have crappy ride quality but thats ok. They are aimed at performance so you cant really expect Lexus smoothness. The Evo is more practical as a daily driver but i do have to question Mitsu's reliability record vs Hondas. I got to drive a EVO MR before i bought my S2000. I chose the S2000 even though the Evo is faster and easier to drive up to the limit. I respect both cars immensely. I wouldnt mind having AWD and 4 seats. But The S2000 was the sportiest Honda out there when i was in the market. Fact is if Honda made a +280 hp SH-AWD TSX turbo (using the new RDX motor) id glady buy one over the S2000. Be happy with whatever you have and put away the tape measures and zip up your pants everyone. -------------------- The DARK NEWB ![]() ![]()

I would like to apologize, and just say that not all Evo owners are like this... At least the Utah S2000 drivers know that... Being that most of them respect us and most of us respect them, namely me, since technically speaking I have access to both a great Evo and a great S2000, both of which are totally awesome on the track. And nothing beats dropping the top when its mid 70s and going on a drive in the canyon, especially not popping up the canyon enclosed in a 4 door sedan, unless there's snow on the road.
The ONLY thing that the Evo is better at then the S2000 with no contest is the obvious modifiability (if that's a word)... To gain 100 whp on an S2000 is much more expensive than on an Evo. Please end this before someone (or someone's ego) gets hurt, and I'm talking mainly to the moderators of this lovely forum. The mods on EvoM may or may not do something, they get behind schedule every once in awhile and there are loads of threads like this on there (waaa that mustang, waaa that SRT4, waaa that STi, waaa that civic, trashed this, trashed that, smoked this, smoked that...) Again, I apologize from all of us emotionally stable Evo owners over at EvoM who have a normal level of self-esteem. -------------------- My car: One big black station wagon... with a turbo.

What happened to being a car enthusiast? When did it turn into "My dad can beat up your dad!"
I'll say the same thing here that I said when an SRT4 enthusiast was extolling the virtues of his car: Whenever I hear about a car that is faster or "more bang for the buck" than my S, I try to compare as many factors as possible and not just performance numbers. I forget - how fast does the top come down on the Evo? |

i dont understand why some of the s2ki members are getting all butt hurt. did u guys read the article posted on ur front page that's filled with utter bs? just way too much ego and it's pretty disgusting.
um. how fast can the s2k take 5 ppl to the track and still destroy most cars? how fast can the s2k go on anything that's not dry pavement? how fast can the s2k gain anything more than 20whp? please... i own neither cars; i'm just a car enthusiast. i have no reason to take side on either cars. from an enthusiast's standpoint, that article is not supposed to be on the front page of the biggest s2k community on the web. the article was written by someone who is most likely insecure about the car he purchased, and most of you here know it too. why can't we all just get along....sigh. |
