It is better to make torque at high rpm than at low rpm when you can take advantage of gearing.

It makes me squeamish every time I see someone accelerate hard to 100+ and then throw the transmission into neutral like that. It is SO dangerous.

Unless you are sitting in traffic at a redlight, ALWAYS have your car in gear. Whether you are moving, stopped, parked, etc.

When did that happen? I watched the vid 3 times and Phil let off at the top of 4th while slowing down?

Nice run against Dave. Looks like a charity sprint starting off in 2nd poke.gif Can't wait to see Dave's completed ride.

Say it ain't so!!! I have finally seen that infamous black S2000 on video! lol.gif thumbsup.gif Seems like it was very reservedly driven, but still more than enough to beat that silver one. I think the black one started in 2nd gear, correct?

confused.gif Care to elaborate? What's so "dangerous"? And "unless you are sitting in traffic at a redlight...", isn't that the same as when you are "stopped"?

Short shift at 5500 rpm from first to second.

I wasn't on it until Dog went by as you can tell. Even then I didn't power shift it when I needed to play catch up. biggrin.gif If we had continued into fifth it would have been a route but it wouldn't have shown up on the camera. The black S was just getting going. biggrin.gif
By the way, the silver S was totally on it.

Hey Purple, I went out and bought this miracle software at $120 just for you so I could post this stuff on the internet. lol.gif Now I need to shoot some races.

REALLY?!!! We'll have to set up something soon. Personally, I like the view when you have a camera mounted to shoot out the passenger window and the car w/ the camera starts a half car ahead (just to show the difference on the camera). Of course, we could also get several camera cars going.

Aww! That's so cool! thumbsup.gif It's well worth the wait for the last 1+ years or so. tongue.gif lol.gif Tanku!

At first I felt kinda bad that you spent $120, but then I realized that that amount is probably not that much to you anyway. tongue.gif I've always wanted to see vids of your S not because I didn't believe you had a fast car, but to see and hear your car in action. thumbsup.gif Stevec was the one who always called b.s. rofl.gif But he's gone (actually, he's still on here reading, just not posting under the old screen name anymore). Hi Stevec! lol.gif

Btw, I've never posted a vid on the net before so I don't know, but I thought it was just a simple matter of transferring a video from the camcorder to the computer then uploading to the net, without the need of buying a "miracle software"? But maybe I don't know anything about uploading a video. tongue.gif

Anytime you are out of gear, you can't accelerate, you can't steer with your throttle, getting back into gear abruptly at a high speed may upset your balance if turning, you can't use the engine to brake. Hell, you also get better fuel economy.

There are so many reasons.

Those are the obvious reasons. You made it seem as though it were damaging to the vehicle itself.

Hardly. I prefer to have complete control over my car at all times.

You control your car in three ways. Steering, braking, and accelerating. In neutral, you only have 2/3 control over your car. You wouldn't drive without a steering wheel or with cut brake lines would you? An exagerated point, but a point nonetheless.

On more than one occasion, rapid acceleration has probably saved my life. During onramp merging and highway lane changing, I've had a few larger SUVs nearly roll right over me because either they weren't paying attention or they just didn't see my car (late afternoon sun in eyes). The S2000 doesn't exactly cast a huge shadow compared to other vehicals.

Full control at all times for this safe driver. hello.gif
