i have an 02 #1798 and had very HAZY headlights.. the entire headlight was full haze which made it hard to even see in... and at night the actualy housing would light up because of it refracting light.

2-3 weeks ago a orlando member told me about him using PlastX and i finally got around to it.

after 3 coats (blue taping off car first) using my hand and a towel in circle motion.. their practically back to new...

anyone w/ haze... use this product!

Plexus on the headlights, Plastx on the rear plastic window is what I use.

Took some PlastX and a high speed buffer (foam pad) to my headlights today, I can't believe how clear they are now. I thought for sure that the haze would never come off. I tried the Plastx without the buffer and only had moderate results. But all I can say is, if you have the hazed lights, try this out.

I had hazy lights (expected with a used MY00) and had GREAT results with PlastX on the 2nd time I used it.

First time I put it on, wiped a bit and then buffed it off, eh.

Second time I put it on, wiped and got in there and scrubbed, let it sit, put a BIT more on an wiped/scrubbed a bit more, then buffed it off.

The difference was HUGE.

I just re-PlastX'd my headlights a few days ago (when I washed and waxed the car too smile.gif ) and they look REALLY good.

I finish it off with Plexus to protect.

I have mixed review. haha I tell yah I am a weirdo.

First time I used it, I used it only on the faded part of headlights, that would be the top. Since I am in AZ it's 2004 and already haze from the sun. Well long story short.... The top part where I used it faded even more and it looked like I killed the clear coar.

Then 3 months later I grew some balls and made another attempt and learned that all I had to do is put some elbow grease with some speed. Results were exellent. Now if I used a buffer, I can only dream of the results.

Pros: Great results with effort and elbow grease put into it

Cons: With out experiance you will give up in a minute and be even more irritated because this product is hard to wipe off and you have to work that micro-fiber into the material to get that brilliant shine.
Anyhow, I give it two thumbs up.

But anyways, great product.

I tried this on the 3M protectant film I have on the headlights, it worked VERY little and I did two passes with the PC @ 3000.

Anyone else try this on the 3M?

where do you buy this stuff??? is it foolproof? (as in... is there any chance that i'll screw it up and ruin my headlights?) what do you use to buff the headlight with???

i have hazy headlights too. frown.gif they bother me, but i didn't think there was much i could do about it. i was told it was from the HIDs getting too hot.

get at any autoparts strore.

dot get it on the paint or itl scratch it up.

just tape off the bumper and polish away. the more frustration and anger you push into the polishing, the better itl come out ;-)

i just stared at the haze for like 15mins and i had enough anger to rub them for 20mins each.

I just bought a 2003 WRX and the headlights could use some work. I have a PC so I will use that. I will take some pics throughout the process and post them up. It won't be from an S but you will get the idea.

I can get this stuff at any car parts place?

Do I apply with the PC then wipe off with a terry or microfiber? Or do I apply with terry or microfiber then clear off with the PC foam pad?

Sorry if this is a stupid ? lol.gif

I put the PlastX on the lights before initial buffing. The next round, I put the PlastX on the buffer. I don't know if that makes sense, but it worked. It will take a few coats and buffs to clear them (but worth the 15 or so minutes it took)

Who ever told you that has clearly NO IDEA what they are talking about. HID's produce less heat....so the answer would be... no.

hmmm, well it seemed to make sense at the time, cause this person had an STI; my s2k and his car both had the hazy headlights. i'd never seen it on another car before that i could recall, except ones that had HIDs. but that might just be because i'd never really paid attention.

glad i could give you a good laugh. frown.gif

No big deal. biggrin.gif The hazing is caused by the sun and road debri, but mainly the sun kills the headlights or anything that's plastic for that matter.

True story, and guys remember this... Energy is never created or destroyed... so apply this to your engine and your daily life. An HID puts out less heat, which means the power goes somewhere....and that is LUMENS! they take less power to produce the light.
There are products out there that contain metals that will reflect the sun from your lights. I'm kinda into this since my friend is the guy who invented StoneGard (3m clear stuff copied this) He was my neighbor and invented it by accident lol. Anyways theres some products used in tinting building windows that are very durable and reflect the UV rays that will turn your lights yellow, which happens because they are not UV balanced. Somethin to experiement with i guess.
