Bensen's machine in OC, their the original honda machine shop. talk to Dan, he's kinda a dick at times but you get good quality.

But always double check everyone work, we got a rod & piston assembled backwards one time, so always double check. with that said do it yourself.

i do. replace w/ b16(pr3) piston & u got yourself 180whp gsr(11.3 compression). all this will cost you around $600.00, which it includes new head gasket, piston, piston ring, head gaskets, block gaskets, cam seal, valve seal... so on & on.

I put PR3 pistons in LS's and other engines, B16 pistons and trans really wakes up a car, if you don't mind redlining on the hwy lol. it's a good cheap upgrade.

if you are useing used pistons make sure their still true.

are you going to change the bearing also? if so aftermarket or factory bearings?

when you think about it it's funny how honda engines are so reliable, mixed matched bearings, cyl's at different bores, and floating cyl's.

good luck!

Try PASS Auto in City of Industry. (626) 369-4418

I don't know the cost for the rebuild, but he rebuilt my GSR tranny at a very good price (I provided the parts, he did the quality work). He works on a lot of race cars and is very knowledgeable of Honda cars.

pr3 pistons, thats old b16? p30 is newer b16. why not just get b16b pistons, or itr or just stock p72. compression is great, but do you plan on doing to the motor? race or daily it? then that will tell you what pistons to buy.

p30 is jdm civic piston, which will raise the compression to 11.6. 91 oct can't go over 11.5, which will result in pre-ignition. so he wouldn't be able to drive using 91 oct gas.

yes, he could use itr p73 piston, but that'll only raise the compression to 10.8. it'll give him around 160-170whp.

if he's going to re-build the motor.. i would just go all the way.

btw, pr3 is stock usdm b16 piston.

go with b16 pistons and tune it with hondata and your good to go !! on 91 oct.

We use to use the same pistons with the ls/v's that we built, tuned it with hondata and it made some good power !

You'll be fine with the pr3's !!! daily driven.
