very impressive.... but i see a lot more than 4k....the tune alone,if a customer wanted them to do it would be very high.... wheels and tires, everything else easily way over 4k....
a 06 z06 with drag radials went 10.85 stock. add some spray, cam, full exhaust, and tune and lets see who wins... -------------------- 02 ZO6,00 s2k silverstone,07 volvo s40

run what ya brung. If the GT500 runs around on drag radials like I'm sure it does, it won't be much of a problem As far as a Z06 with "some spray, cam, full exhaust, and tune," lets see who crosses the finish line with 3 passengers first lol And a tune for a pulley, exhaust, and a 75 shot isn't going to run much money - maybe $500 tops. Run what ya brung?
Correct me if am wrong but arent slicks illegal? So even before he came to a stop light to run someone he would have already been pulled over and ticketed, hence him not running around town with slicks on. I dont think sideways ran that gt500 on the 1/4 mile at the track. There is no comparison this car is obviously a track car. Nice car nevertheless. --------------------

I'm not a mustang fan at all, but these are impressive cars. Tangled w/ a stock GT500 a few weeks ago. My power/weight was better, but his backend seemed to stick a whole lot better than mine. Made for a couple fun runs. Very fast car in stock trim, can't imagine how that big ol'd v8 responds to mods.

That certainly is a fast car. But I'm not merely impressed, as it has a huge engine, so modifications will yield much more power and speediness.
I'd be 1000 times more impressed if you could take that and make it handle LIKE an S2000 or Elise. Now, THAT would be IMPRESSIVE. Btw, take away the slicks, and it's a high 10-sec car. Still very fast, but not WAY out of Sideways' reach. Does it have solid rear axles? I'm much more into awesome handling sports cars than that type of cars. S2000 and GT500 couldn't be further apart. One's a roadster, the other coupe. One's light, agile and nimble, the other not. One's a light sports car, the other very heavy muscle car. One has the greatest gear box on earth, the other not so much. One's good for tossing and flossing, the other good for going straight. One has a small engine, the other big. One's geared towards sports car fans, the other muscle car fans. One's made by a fast-growing and profitable company, the other by a dying company. Et cetera! is sideway's car 100% legal?
give respect where it's due people. sideways has an impressive s2000, but do remember how much money/time etc was used to attain his current output. if u want straightline power nothing beats a bigger engine engineered correctly. the gt500 is a very fast car in the straightaways and makes huge power easily; dont try to discredit it by commenting its weak handling. while it doesn't handle as well as an s2000 it also has backseats and way more room and better ride quality....no car is perfect. the gt500 is a beast at what it does best, as we can see from after around $4,000 spent on it. -------------------- 98 Accord 5spd 01 Integra GSR 91 MR2 Turbo 06 Evo IX 00 RSTi Now: Evo X GSR 07 Civic Si 2007 BMW Z4MC aw/blk/extended |

To those that think a Turbo S2K is still a "balanced sports car" actually think that an S2000 with 300+whp still retains the handling balance that it came with when it had 195whp????? Aside from it being an overheating time-bomb on any road course, what do you think it takes to make 300whp+ in an S2K. A big turbo that's what. A big *laggy* turbo that will spool in mid corner, just when you don't need it.
Turbo S2K's that are running 300+whp are nothing but drag cars with IRS. As you specialze in one area, you sacrifice another. The irony is that this is being mostly forgotten when compared with other fast (and designed and engineered that way) vehicles. You can't have your cake and eat it too. A competently driven Shelby will run door to door with a turbo S2K anywhere apples2apples (tires, pads, and drivers). If you're a car guy (and not just an s2K lemming) you'd know that. wow im not even gonna reply with what i had in mind because i dont wanna get banned cuz i actually like this site but alot of you s2k owners are total fanbois and "sideways" dick riders lol. NO disrespect to sideways cuz it is a fast car but damn most you guys make his car sound unbeatable lol. YOu guys see a 9 sec street car and talk shit! "oh solid axle" this "slicks" that "i bet it handles like shit". " oh i bet the allmighty sideways will give it a good run on the street, just take off the slicks " bla bla bla, there is a thing called DR's that most of us use on the street that work almost as good and are street legal for that matter.
PROPS to a fast ass GT500 that only took a couple grand for 9's This post has been edited by DA-GTO on Nov 23 2006, 04:50 AM -------------------- cai/Lt's/exhaust/tune....385 rwhp 380 rwtq/484whp 505 rwtq (100 shot)06 LS2 GTO ![]() |

As i posted earlier, I appreciate and respect the GT500. Even as stock one is no joke. I can run w/ a stock one, but once they start throwing in mods, it's a different story. However, I've gotta take exception w/ a couple things in this post. I'm putting somewhere in the neighborhood of 450 to the rear wheels. My S is NOT a drag car in disguise and neither is it unbalanced. Now my setup is definately not ideal for autox, and if you're punching it from low rpm's, then yes, turbo spool will jump up and bite you if you're not paying attention. However, with a competent driver who knows the car and the spool characteristics of the turbo, the car is just as competent on the track as any stock S. Finally, with a properly designed and installed setup, the car is not an "overheating time-bomb". I've driven the car over 600 miles straight w/ more than a bit of that time in boost, and have had no overheating issues at all. |
