Getting my car back from the body shop tomorrow, because I had my front bumper and cf vented hood painted. The car hasn't been detailed in months because of issues with a bodyshop, so finally I took it to someone i know and they are getting it done right. I'am going to wait 30 days before I seal up the hood and bumper, but that doesn't mean i can't touch the rest of the car biggrin.gif.

Some processes I will be going through:

Clay
Compounding some places with heavy scratches
Sonus SFX 1 and 2
AIO
Klasses Sealent Glaze ( going to try to do 6 layers this time, 1 layer per day)
Going to try this new sealent/wax out Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845 (2 layers)
P2S1 (2 layers)
Leather care all of the seats
303 on everything else
Raggtop
Engine detail
Clay the wheels and put wheel wax on
Probably try the Collinte on the wheels since it lasts quite a bit

Heres some old pictures from the last detail

my thoughts:
1. i wouldnt use dawn if you are going to clay the car- dawn is harsh and the clay will remove everything anyway- so in my mind it is redundent (unless you will not be claying the whole car)

2. i also would not polish a car that does not have swirls, unless the paint is dull.

3. apply p21s with its applicator- do not let it haze. wipe on small areas, and wipe off

4. let your klasse cure overnight and a couple of coats would be good

cant wait to see those pics!
and i hope that a badge request will be pmed to me when you post them !

Your process looks good, but you may want to skip the SFX1 since Silverstone tends to hide swirl marks VERY well, and you'll be hard pressed to see the benefits of an extra step of polish on this color. Also, there are many opinions on how to apply/remove Klasse SG, but I've found that the wipe-on wipe-off method works just as well as letting it "cure" overnight: http://autopia.org/forum/hall-fame/30989-k...structions.html

Thanks, so what should i use to remove the wax during the wash? I know i do have some build up of wax at pesty areas so i want to get rid of those. And the applicator that came with the P21S is some foam black one is that the right one?

I think you misunderstood part of the article smile.gif When he applies the SG, he applies a VERY thin layer and then wipes it off immediately. He recommends to wait at least 24 hours (he waits a week) before applying another layer of SG or other type of wax. So, in your situation, go through steps 1-10 as you've listed, and wait to apply the P21S until your next wash thumbsup.gif

Can you guys help me out with the RPM for each of the process. I've used a PC before and i mostly stayed around 4-5 because all i did was apply wax. For polishing using SFX 2 should i be going max speed 6?

You shouldn't be using anymore than speed 3 to apply wax. Any faster and you're just putting unnecessary heat on the paint and wax. IMO polishing with either speed 5 or 6 is a highly debated topic. Some see no need to be polishing at 6 and say that 5 is sufficient enough. If anything, you'd most likely see someone use speed 6 on the compounding stage, then 5 for the light polish, then 3 or less for applying wax.

Since you're going to be doing a full detail, I highly recommend you have one thing in hand, something to clean the pad in the middle of polishing (I've learned this the hard way). Your pads are going to be caked by the time you get half of the car finished, and they won't be as effective. Get something like the Duo Spur or pad cleaning brush over at Autogeek. A toothbrush might work also but I'm not sure.

Happy W&W-ing.

Thanks a lot

Also what do you guys think about Meguir's Pads? Because i know i might need more than 1 polishing pad and Finishing. So it'll be easier to run to the store and get their Professional Pads rather then order it.

Lots of people (pro's included) use Meguiar's polishing pads and receive great results thumbsup.gif

I've used Meguiar's pads in the past. I prefer the Edge 2000 pads, but out of the velcro pads I liked the Meguiar's pads the best.

sorry i missed your questions...

the clay process will remove the old wax, and the applicator that came with the p21s is fine-
the other choice is, if you want to use the machine to apply, to drop the wax outta the can and rub it on your pc pad- p21s is so easy to use that by hand is fine on our cars... on big cars and vans i often use the machine.

looking forward to seeing pics if you can get some!!

and btw, after that process you will have become one of us- pm me for your wacko badge!!

I sure hope mine turns out that great tomorrow! I am using the same process and same products except for Menzerna on the swirl removal and polish. It will probably take me a few days so I can get enough SG coats on and then the P21S. More than a few days actually! Anyways, great job and amazing shine!

Yeah i applied AIO twice, put on 3 layers of SG (it was a lot easier to do if you use a PC), 3 layers of P21s by hand. Had to do a lot of prep work and washed the car basicly every layer because my garage gets dusty and we had strong winds here. Ordered almost 50 bucks worth of microfiber towels from panshak so i had fresh towels everytime. I took my time and didn't rush thats why it took so long.

The car looks fantastic. I hope I can get the same results on my Silverstone.

My favorite pic is the one mid-way with the door slightly open and the emblem reflection...I don't know how to descibe it but it looks like the reflected emblem is sitting in a foot of water...a deep wet shine.
