I think your car is nice and I really dont want to rain on your parade, but.....

I found it so funny how I predicted that 50/50 would attempt to do a hack job and was flamed and called a troll by MANY members on this site, except you. I wish I could see those same tools with their feet in their mouth right now.

BTW, would you be willing to give us a somewhat exact number of money spent to make this swap possible? Excluding your personal time just so that others could get a rough idea of how much this investment costs.

Well from personal experience. My total $$$$ involved in my setup has ran past the $20,000.00+ mark. There are a few factors that go into that such as having a $3,000 rear end. And having to fix what others have did a half a$$ job on. I won’t say any names “cough” “cough” Brian from 50/50.

As stated earlier I have spent a little over $1000 just to get the gauge cluster to function properly. And trust me it is real easy to say “damn it can’t be that hard and cost that much to get the gauge cluster to work” Trust me it is!!! And there are modules to this date that I still don’t understand how they work but I had to get Matthew Tait from Terf Inc. to make custom circuit boards to get this gauge cluster to read correctly.

There are a few that know and can attest to the $$$$$ that I have spent in the last 6 months to get this setup right. The wiring that 50/50 first had in the car was nothing short of a hack job. The motor that they had placed in the car let go within a month due to them having incorrectly wire the car. Long story.

In total I have about 70hours in just in wiring alone. I’m not going at it alone as I have the help from a gentleman by the name of Ang from God Speed Auto Salon. So the car has a new motor in it and wiring is being finalized.

There are a few that I would like to thank for the blood and sweet that has gone into this build.

John from Inlinepro for all the support in regards to beefing up the rear end!!! Thank you!

Ang from God Speed Auto Salon for being the brain behind wiring! And giving me a dyno to use. Thank you!

Matthew from Terf Inc. for all of the support, research, and circuit building capabilities you bring to the table!!! Thank You!!!

And last but not least all of the s2ki members that have helped me through all of the tough times. “you know who you are” Thank You!

If anything good has came from this. It is that the guinea pig “prs2k” has saved countless others from losing THOUSANDS by dealing with 50/50 Racing. At the end of the day I would not let 50/50 change my oil!!!

With that being said I now know everything you will need to do this swap and to do it right. And the good thing is its free just ask the questions.

Also I am in the process of helping someone build a 2jz S2k as I type this. I will let him release the info when he is ready. biggrin.gif

congrats Mr 2jz s2000 on getting your car together! i too, unfortunatly had a really bad experience with brian from 50/50 racing. frown.gif I just hope that other people will learn from our experiences and not have to go through the crap Luis and I did.

At least you can say you have the only 2jz that is fully functional and running biggrin.gif

PRS2K. So are you selling the car now b/c of the bad memories? I went through something very similar and regardless of the state the car was in or the power it made, I didnt want to be within 100 feet of my car.

Here is another small update. About 2 weeks ago I was having a little spirited drive biggrin.gif with a local cobra and when I hit 3rd gear *pop*. I thought to my self damn what was that. Well the answer is below. That’s right a cracked r200 differential casing. Anyone that knows me knows that I take all this stuff in stride because I realize its part of what makes this hobby interesting "YET VERY EXPENSIVE frown.gif "

user posted image

However I made a quick call over to Inline Pro and John and Ya got me set up on some new pieces they had just released for the R200 diff. Basically in a nut shell its four pieces two of which are braces that attach to the rear cover to reinforce it and the other two are full metal inserts to replace the Rubber bushings in the front ears of the diff.

Here are pics of the braces.
user posted image

Below is a picture of the New Diff and the inserts you can see the bottom of them sticking out each side of the diff.

Axles
When we lowered the damaged differential we noticed some grease in-between the axle flange that bolts to the diff. Come to find out both axles were "done" I sent them out to Driveshaft Shop since they were under warranty and they had a 1 day turn around time eek3.gif Helps when they are in the same state as you. Lee at Driveshaft Shop said the Axle Shafts were to long causing the bearings to pop through the gold plate on the exterior of the cups.

So I have the rear end back together now and strong as ever. Its time to start going to the track again. We are going to finalize a tune this week. Drag radials come in Thursday. And of to the track I go. thumbsup.gif

I was wondering the same thing. It almost looks like the stock mounting locations were utilized, but I'm not sure if it uses custom motor mounts.

Yes the motor mounts are stock motor mounts at the stock mounting locations thumbsup.gif

eek.gif Wait, so the stock F20 and stock 2JZ motor mounts line up exactly the same? Is that why the swap fits the way it does?

banghead.gif Sorry, I think I should re-word that...

Anyways, I was referring to how the 2JZ practically looks at home in the S2000 engine bay...that's what I mean about it "fitting the way it does". It almost looks like the stock engine mounts (from the 2JZ) bolts up to the stock F20 mount locations, or at least that's what it looks like in the pics.

I just wanted clarification on whether or not any of the mounts for the engine (or chassis for that matter) needed to be custom fabricated. From what I've seen in your pics, it looks like the only custom mount was for the transmission.

If you couldn't tell already, I'm trying to gather as much information on this swap as possible...just in case I might someday want to build a monster just like yours. lol.gif

Yes the motor mounts are half 2jz and half F20C they work well together biggrin.gif The transmission mount was fabricated from a 96 Toyota supra it maintains the same mount with an added adapter to fit the s2000 chassis.

Feel free to ask any questions I will be more than happy to help you along with your build thumbsup.gif
