MY MY00 with 5,900 original miles suffered two major issues---dead paint and horribly oxidized rear plastic window.
PRODUCTS: Meguiars Plast X, microfiber applicator and a Cobra Microfiber towel to remove the product. Thoughts: That was a very difficult task---my hands are going to hurt for a few days! I went over the outside 4 times and the inside three. You have to push really hard to get it to work, but it does work. The prior owner probably never did this before. There is some permanent marring, but overall, it looks 95% better and I can now see out my back window! Here's how it started---you can see my small test spot in the middle: ![]() DURING: ![]() ![]() AFTER: ![]() This post has been edited by shumax on Mar 11 2007, 05:01 PM

Wow! HUGE improvement. PlastX is good stuff. I don't have a plastic rear window but I do use PlastX on my guage cluster and head/tail lights.

I tried it with my PC but chickened out b/c, even with a yellow pad, I was having to use some MAD pressure. I was worried it would break the plastic window...
Thanks for the feedback! |

I've noticed that most of the scratches to my plastic window occure on the inside, from dropping the top obviously. Did you use the Plast X on the inside as well as the outside?

Yes---4 times on the out and three on the in. It's not perfect, but it's at least 95%. Good enough for me!

I just used the same stuff, and it worked great.
I applied it with a Mothers Power Ball - the small one with the extension. It took about 30 min to do the inside and outside of the window! I friend of mine has suggested (now that the window is clear again) to but some soft black cloth it the tray in the back to prevent the scratches, perhaps buying a black bathroom mat and cutting it to fit the tray. Hope this helps someone, somewhere at some time |

man i was doing that by hand too for about two layers and mine looks no where near as good as yours. Mine is pretty cloudy too. I'm just going to wait until i go back to houston and have a porter cable i can use. Sore arms isn't worth it...

A job well done! I know how much that sucks. I wish there was a better way to attack the inside of the window. Keep up the clear look with Plexus - heck it might even make it look even better.
I've used the Meguiar's plastic polishes before, but wasn't very happy with PlastX myself. I prefer the #17, #10 combo and finish with Plexus. I have a Muz Mat in my window well... Bought it when the whole top - including window - was replaced by Honda and it's kept scratches to a bare minimum. Definitely a worthwhile investment. http://www.prestigeautoaccessories.com/sto...6fb487ae4597012

Yeah, I've polished my headlights with the PC, a 4" yellow pad and the Meguiar's polishes.
