Default r8 pricing is out for u.s. cars

still missing the engine lighting and engine bay carbon fiber (both important, imo, since the engine is part of the exterior view)...
my dealer told me that magnetic ride will be standard.

pricing basics are:

6 speed $109k
r tronic $118k

nav system $2k
for the leather you can spend up to $6,800k!!
b&o sound $1,800 (all reviews are this one is a must)
body color side blades $1k
metallic paint $650 (why? you would think that they could throw this one in!!)

i would guess the cf engine and lighting about $3k or so

which means that a 6 speed car loaded will run about $120k+

this mule does not have the cf engine compartment, or the lighting (it is a u.s. verson- they have those options on the european mules now):

So when you add options that IMO should be standard on a $109k car, you may end up spending almost $125k? Thanks but no thanks.

Bang & Olufsen sound system is only $1800? It's like $6800 in the S8. I know the R8 is smaller but still, you'd figure it'd be at least $3000. Not complaining, just musing.

interesting- you can get the car with a front "grille filler" at no charge, if you do not want a license plate there- but it also says "with chrome strips for states without front license plate requirement")...

It's not gonna sell in big numbers - I think most who have that kind of money are looking for a prestige marque rather than point by point comparisons.

Very nice car! But I hate that silver side panels, just doesn't suit the rest of the car. Options like leather, metallic paint, etc. are just ridiculous for such an expensive car. Otherwise, nice car!

agree that the price will keep demand down, but also it cant sell in large numbers due to the production restrictions- which will also keep the price up.
i have been on the list for over 6 months and will be lucky if i can get in the first year allocation (almost a year from now).
and also agree that at that price level folks are not into comparo details-

reminds me that the "gas guzzler tax" on the purchase is around $2k (forgot to mention that in the pricing above)!!
