Default Has anyone here removed and installed the DBW

I have the service manual for the AP1's but as we all know the TB has been significantly altered for the '06+ years. If anyone has the service manual for the MY06+'s and is willing to scan up the 2 or so pages of the throttle body specifications or has removed/installed the TB in '06+ models and would like to do a short DIY writeup, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My TB looks similar to that except for the round cable "pulley" on the right side that has been replaced by a bracket housed by several small bolts that look like Allen bolts but with a star-shaped pattern. I'm sure the torque specs for the main bolts that bolt onto the gasket are the same, but it's the torque specs for the star-shaped bolts that worry me.

Anyone have a DIY writeup for this?

Thanks again

this is not a simple plug and play switcheroo. the VSA is tied to the TB via the ECU. you're setting yourself up for a nightmare.

Also, the cruise control is interfaced with the DBW throttle. You would also have to redo the cruise. No telling what else might be affected. I have the Helm service manual and will check it out.

I know the TB is linked to the ECU, but shouldn't it be as easy as unplugging the harness and plugging it back? Or will I have to re-calibrate all the settings if I remove the TB and install it back?

The reason I am removing the TB is I plan to have it bored out or buy the new Spoon 70mm TB for DBW owners. I've been told that it should be as easy as plug-and-play, but if it is more complicated than simply removing a few bolts and unplugging a few wires then I will have to reconsider this mod.

I just re-read this thread and it appears there may be a slight confusion...

I'm not trying to convert my DBW throttle body for an '00-05 cable TB. I'm simply asking for directions and torque specs for the '06+ DBW tb's as I simply plan to remove it and re-install it back.

The pics in my first post are there for comparison purposes only to describe the housing segment on the right side of the TB that has now replaced the cable-pulley system.

sorry for the confusion

They should include the Helms manual with every S2K sold IMO.

Shoot me a PM to remind me to scan that page for you when I get home.
