Ok there are alot of us that have this little problem. not such a big deal but its annoying as hell. so i decided to document it and show how easy it was to fix.

Tools -
philips screw driver

1ST
you take these little hanging clips off, by removing the cover you will see the screw under it



then just pry off the panel with your hand (comes out very easy)

2ND
there is a screw in the top corner of the second panel, remove this screw so you can pull the panel back.



LAST
just pull the panel back and slid your hand in the hole! you will be able to feel the metal cylinder thing that you screw to the back of your 12v source.



Thats it your done. hope this helped u guys out

I hate to ask and genuinely not trying to be a smart ass...but what annoying thing does this fix?

The threaded lock that holds the 12V acc. socket to the console can work itself loose after awhile. Tight fitting plugs that have to be twisted to remove slowly unscrew the lock from the back of the socket.

I know it has to be a tight fit. - do you think it would be possible to get some kind of glue or something to keep it from loosening again?

last time i stuck my hand in there i was cut deep like 2 inches across from one of the metal panels back there!!! so be careful!!!

well when I first bought my car it happened like 3 weeks later and I crazy glued it, but the heat in Florida that my car produces while sitting is just to much for the glue, so over time it just popped out again. so I left it alone for a while and just didn't plug anything into it, until I needed to charge my phone. when I had somting plugged in, it just came out and started flopping everywhere. so I said screw it and finally fixed it.

yea, some people get lucky and never have a problem with it,

^ That would be me thus far. Although plugging in and taking my radar detector out on a constant basis may be its demise.
