The Properautocare site lists a pad lubricant. Is this necessary? Do you use some sort of lubricant? I checked the Better Car Care FAQ and saw no mention of a pad lube.

Its a good idea. It helps when you start using a new pad so its not just foam rubbing on your paint until your pad is actually covered in wax.
Not sure if you could just spray it with some QD? --------------------

I use one quick spray of my QD from about 18 inches away. Don't get it real wet though or you'll sling.

"Pre-lubricate your buffing pad with a shot or two of water or detailing spray." http://autopia.org/forum/guide-detailing/8...perfection.html You could use a light mist of water, or quick detailer.

Applied 3m Swirl Remover for the 2nd time today. Didn't get them all out the first time 'cause the pad was too wet. Repeated the application today, and the results are great! Virtually zero swirls - mirror like! Thanks!

okay, one of my questions got answered today.
How about after polishing and waxing? what can you use to wash the pads afterwards? and should I air dry them. I just bought brand new edge pads, and don't want to ruin them. -------------------- 2002 SPA YELLOW 2003 LEXUS IS300 2008 DUCATI 1098S 2009 Paratoys MZ-100 and Momentum ![]() Next: NSX 98-01, 997 c4s, 997GT3 ![]()

I can't get my hands on that stuff today. can I use any regular household cleaners or car wash to wash the pads? next time, I'm getting the whole kit. |

sure- just rinse the pad really well (which you should do with any cleaner). and if you have a spur, that can make clean up easier if you have any caking on the pad. (spurs are usually used while you are polishing, but i use mine for clean up also) http://www.autogeek.net/spur100.html i dry mine on the machine- at the lowest setting. spin out the excess water until none comes out. then air dry before putting away. |
