Spring 2008 AR Boston Mountains Tour (BMT08) 4/12, ** Saturday, April 12th **

Planning is underway for the third ever semi-annual all-day S2000 tour through the Boston Mountains over in Arkansas. Weather permitting, this will happen on Saturday, March 22nd. If the weather does not cooperate, we'll try instead on Saturday, April 12th.

This time around, we plan on starting the tour in Eureka Springs, AR. At the beginning of the tour, each driver (and co-driver) will be given a numbered door prize ticket and a detailed morning and afternoon route which includes a stop for lunch in between. The route has been selected to travel over some of Arkansas' best S roads! From Eureka Springs, we'll head south and make our way through the Boston Mountains and end up in Wiederkehr Village, AR and draw tickets to give away a few very nice gifts.

Our starting/gathering point will be at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks. Sign-in and packet distribution will begin at 8:30 a.m. Please arrive promptly and with a full tank.

i got to talk to the g/f to see if she can get out of work, im thinking this would be really fun. i would be coming from wichita ks and will have to see how far it is for me just to get there.

just talked to the g/f and she is going to take off work so that we can go. i am going to try and get some of the other s2ks in town to go with us so i will let u know how many more will come. so put me down as going please.

haha sounsd fun This is just for the saturday right? me and my buds will talk it out this weekend and see but if we do go there will be 2 s2ks, 1 350, and a is300 tagging along haha if thats ok with you guys of course.

It is just an all-day event. It's up to you if you wanna drive down the night before and/or drive back the following day. It's an exhausting (but incredibly fun) event so I usually opt to to stay somewhere close to the starting point the day/night before and then stay somewhere close to the end of the tour that night and then drive back the day after... but that's just me cuz I like to sleep.

Ok, Julie, I'm in. That route looks too good to pass up. Work has been postponed. I'll have driven my new CR to Florida and back to see the 12 Hours of Sebring, so I will definitely be VTEC-able.

Hello All! Yesterday, JulieU and I made our pre-drive of the Spring Boston Mountain Tour. Small patches of snow remained on mountain tops, but the valleys are starting to go green. The roads are in great shape, and I did not see one pothole on the entire route. We are planning a group picture at a scenic overlook in the Buffalo National River's Boxley Valley. Yesterday, there were 30-40 elk in the adjacent field nearby the same scenic overlook.
JulieU will be posting information on three motels and one historic hotel in Eureka Springs, AR (located near the tour start point) that we recommend. You may wish to make reservations and arrive early enough on Friday afternoon so you can tour the historic downtown section of Eureka Springs.

Hotel full of s2K's means only one thing...PARTY!

Actually, I'd strongly discourage partying the night before. Some of these roads could make your stomach turn. It's probabry best to be in tip-top shape and fully alert for the entire tour... for your safety as well as everyone else's.

Things to consider bringing: Two-way radios (tuned to channel 4), cameras, camera mounts, swimwear, basic tools - just in case (socket set, pliers, wrenches), Fix-a-Flat, spare fuses, basic first aid kit.

Don't forget to check your fluids and tire pressures! Also, please take a few minutes to read this article: Tips for a Successful Group Drive. There may be a quiz!

I took two pix of the elk, but they were so far off in the distance, you can hardly tell what they are (I even zoomed all the way in).

hey julie i know its a week away but the weather is saying its going to be raining. what will happen if the weather people are right for once and it is raning?

If the weather does not cooperate, we'll try instead on Saturday, April 12th. It looks like they've decreased the chances for precipitation. Hopefully they'll increase the predicted temperature as well. The trees are beginning to bloom here in Tulsa!
