This is what happens when you lose your way:
These guys need our support. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNOQHAVsbhE http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/civic-si/78...tml#post2233682 A Philly story will be developing as well. Personally the fact Honda service is unwilling to help, that corporate is knowingly unwilling to help, and that customer service end to end is spitting on the faces of these customers is ... so not Honda. <personal rant> Having had my lemon fight with Nissan i know their pain. This is also the primary reason why I didn't buy an Si, and instead went for a MazdaSpeed3. Just couldn't see myself in another Lemon law case, i was so exhausted with the previous. |

That sucks, I have always been let down by the durability of honda transmission. The main reason i chose the STI over the evo was the trans and clutch.

my '07 Si Sedan was grinding third, when cold in the morning, at about 500 miles. I put in Amsoil Synthetic MTF and haven't had any problems since. Many others have done the same.

If the dealership can't replicate, I'd be powershifting the transmission until it was about to fall out and then I would take it in for them to fix it.

A lot of Type S's had the same issues. My friend is on his 3rd master cylinder and Honda has opened up his transmission and replaced the 5th/6th synchros which didn't help whatsoever.
I ended up getting him to get a new aftermarket master cylinder and there is a significant improvement. I think that may have a lot to do with it. It's almost impossible to differentiate between a hydraulic fluid issue and an internal transmission issue. -------------------- Honda.Nissan.Lexus.Acura.N/A.Turbo.I4.V6.V8. What is funny is that the only thing I know of that was built in Japan on the car is the damn transmission.

just because 1 guy and some "online" people post doesn't mean shit.
Look at all of the idiots who posted about the EVO being garbage when it was new in 2003. as it turned out maybe 1% of the people had a legit claim and the rest took their cars to the track or beat the hell out of them (or both). That guy in the video should just try a different dealership.... show them on a test drive not while the car is sitting there.... blaaaaa --------------------

I have a friend with an '07 Si Coupe. He has trouble getting it into third gear. Is it pretty easy to replace the transmission fluid yourself in those cars? I was going to help him out if it's not much more difficult than it is on the S2000. I've done it a few times on my S2000.

I had the same problem with my prelude, and my s2000 would pop out of gear, both fixed by honda for free, niether cars were under warranty...
My uncle is actually a lemon law lawyer and for him honda and bmw is the quickest and easiest to deal with, fast settlements and whatnot (porsche being the worst). Of course what happens before you get the law involved can be another story; my gf's parents owned a 335, and it stranded them 4 times in the 5 months they owned it. They contacted bmw for a refund, and were refused. Contacted a lawyer, got their full refund plus all legal fees paid. --------------------

You don't know what you are talking about on this. It's happening to a lot of people that have purchased one of these cars. That guy in the video is a good example of all the people having problems. This issue is a common one whether you want to believe it or not. I'm on that site, and I have one of these cars. |

okay....so now 2 people.... seriously.... if your pops out and you take the dealer for a ride they will fix it.... if you beat the shit out of your car and it shows, then they probably won't fix it. |

I think theres a thread on that forum with a list of people with transmission problems. The list was a couple hundred of people if I'm not mistaken. Edit: Found it. http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/civic-si/67...em-list-24.html This post has been edited by Dan H on Feb 19 2008, 07:23 PM |

I dunno why people think this can't be true, Hondas weak point with many of their cars is typically their transmission. Prelude, Acura TL/CL, Accord V6, etc. It seems as though the higher the torque goes, the higher the liklihood of a tranny problem...

Intersting, I didnt know that. I agree with the Honda tranny's though, they're pretty ehh. Even the S2000, I have second and third gear grinds, its notchy ass hell, and it's hard to put into gear at times. I need to take it to the dealership.

i am just pissing around to a degree, but........... I can almost guarantee that if I took my car in and proved that it popped out of gear they would fix the car. If the car had drag radials on the front a NOS bottle in the trunk and a bunch of other aftermarket shit they would tell me to go away. These cars by nature are probably living a tortured life in the hands of younger owners, so misshifting and abuse is not covered by warranties. How many Honda Civic Si's have been sold? so 1% (100 out of 10,000) have had problems? and of those 100, 2/3 of them are from abuse.... so 33 out of 10,000 have a legit problem? |

No, that is just people on that site. You think everyone that has the problem is on some forum? Get real dude. It's an issue, and Honda need to correct. i was amazed, myself, at how many people on that site report having the problem. I've never seen such a large problem on a Honda. I'm not on that site all the time so me saying hundreds is a guess at what I've seen. I do know there is some new thread on the clutch in that car, on a regular basis on that site. It's a problem. And yeah you are just pissing around, you don't know what in the hell you are talking about on this unless you have one of these cars or read that site on a regular basis so piss off

I have a friend who has never been on that site who has trouble engaging third gear on his '07 Si. He doesn't drive like an idiot and is bone stock. I'm going to help him replace his transmission fluid and hopefully that will help. So 100% of the people I know with Si's have this problem.
