Default RE050 replaces RE050 MZ

Went to buy some tyres earlier, knowing full well the MZ had been discontinued I asked for them any way. The dealer phoned bridgestone and were told

"the MZ has been discontinued and is now replaced with the standard RE050", I checked and they didn't mean the porcshe ones either.

Now I don't know what to do, do I buy Goodyear Eagle F1s or RE050?
Does anyone know what the difference is between them?

It's a bloody nuisance this, knowing how much this affects the handling of the car means I'm somewhat reluctant to make a decision.
I think I'll just order up the 050s and let you all know

You want Yoko A048R's. They're a real mans tyre. And don't worry about winter handling, you'll have killed them before winter comes

Did we ever get an answer on what's fitted to the 08 cars?

Ask Bridgestone if they've brought over the RE-070 that is used on the S2000 CR in the US.

Wrong size and I'd hate to think what would happen to the handling with 050s on the back and 070s on the front. IF I could have 070s all round I'd be right up for that.

They're scooby tyre. The S2000CR in the US gets proper sized staggered tyres.

I looked at one in the showroom last week. Had MZ's on it.

Ah well at least I won't bother upgrading to 17s now.

I'm getting on ok with the 16" F1s now, the back feels very quite bouncy though so I'm going to try the rears on 34/35 psi.

Here's a thought - has anyone who knows Japanese tried writing direct to Bridgestone and Honda JP to ask about the possibility of getting a batch of S02s and MZs made? I know the UK Bridgestone guy said that they'd lost the moulds but I reckon he just couldn't be arsed to find out.
