wow, Greddy kit for the FTMFW. (He is a State Trooper, and we did this on a Statie patrolled road)

It was a nice lil red 2003 50th anniversary convertable. I honestly thought it would be closer. I was alone, my buddy was driving, his girl was in the pax seat.

Off the line: I spun through first, he walked away fairly easily

From 10mph Roll: I spun through 1st again , pulled him in and passed him by middle of third.

2nd Gear roll,

I decided to do the three honks, chose 2nd gear and 4,000RPMS, knowing this was the strongpoint of the Greddy Kit, so on the 3 honks we both go, my car jumped, and I mean immediately jumped to a car ahead, by top of 3rd I was a 2 full cars ahead and he remained exactly 2 cars behind me, however I think he may have been inching up slowly

3rd Gear roll,

I was in 3rd at 5,000RPMS and same thing, jumped out ahead and stayed 2 or so cars up until 85ish when he slowly, very slowly if at all started to inch up

PS I didn't record it, I wanted to, but my lil recorder uses a little VHS tape and I dont know how to convert it to digital..........

Good runs man, just busting your balls. The c5 has enough torque to not see much of a difference from an anorexic chick.

Nice runs. From bench racing and looking up stats, I wouldn't have thought you'd be able to do that.

was it an auto of 6sp vette. sounds like an auto. they make around 280whp and weigh about 3200lbs. the 6sp make 300-315whp and about 3100 or so lbs.

either way, good to see the GTC is working well.

Where do you get this info? ^

Everything I have read shows the Vert weighing the same as the coupe and the auto as fast or in some reads, faster than the stick. Also both cars have the same engine and the same torque. And no where near 280whp but closer to 300.

Just asking...like to be informed. biggrin.gif

corvetteforum.com

verts are about 150-200lbs heavier. autos make less hp and tq to the ground and 6sps are always, always faster than the autos. with the right gearing on the auto you can close the gap.

it goes like this in terms of lbs.....

ZO6>FRC>coupe>vert.

Automatic verts are noticably slower...where did you get your info is the question, I have never seen anything like that.

According to edmunds.com and

http://www.idavette.net/facts/c5specs/index.htm

The vert isn't heavier.

Well I too logged into Corvette forums and into the 1/4 mile times section. (Where members post their best times. Some slips are available for viewing also)

In comparing the times, 0-60 and 1/4 mile, it soon becomes obvious there is not difference. In fact the autos seem to run more consistant lower times.

Under the search feature you can also get into posts where people have weighed their cars and again very little difference in weight.

So if you were to log into it your self then you will 'be able to see somthing like that'.

dude, your wrong. all the A4's your seeing run lower times have gears. the autos are slower, the autos are slower, the autos are slower, the autos are slower.

they make less whp/tq and have HIGHER gearing, 2.73 rear ends. its just fact. ive been a vette guy all my life.

from CF...

Stock(Street Tire)
12.79x @ 109.80 - boostyfox Details.......6sp
12.84x @ 111.xx - Ramsiec5 Details........6sp
12.990 @ 107.01 - Mistamike17 Details.......trans not listed
12.99x @ 109.81 - c5vette_dallas Details...........6sp
13.10x @ 105.xx - slvrC5vert Details..............intake auto...notice the 5mph trap difference
13.1xx @ 108.xx - CarsRfun's Dad Details..........modded 6sp
13.1xx @ 106.xx - prwest Details.......auto, again notice the trap difference.
13.377 @ 104.87 - Roadsho Details........auto, see above
13.465 @ 104.52 - Deathstrike Details.......auto, again see above
13.637 @ 102.32 - Novicetoo Details..........auto, vert, see above

the autos are easy to launch, hence why some can clock a SIMILAR e.t, but the traps are all 4,5,6,7 mph LOWER than a 6sp.

they are also slower to 60 dude to the 2.73 gears, closer to 5sec flat.

and some of you seem to not fully understand corvette nomenclature......fixed roof coupe, looks like a zo6 but isnt is the lightest. T-tops "coupes" are the vettes you always see.
