Who is to say if they didn't use a cast enkei wheel to shave down for the test wheel the lighter wheel wouldn't have performed better. I am sure there are some good Volks/SSR's or whatever that in that same wheel size would weigh less and still be as strong or stronger.

Very interesting though.

Last paragraph on the last page.

When it comes to wheel rigidity. many tend to assume that production method (cast vs. forged) dictates the overall rigidity. In the case of technologically advanced manufactueres, this is not the case at all. Rigidity depends on the design of the wheel. Regardless of whether the wheel is cast or forged, if the same design and raw materials are used, the rigidity factor will be equal. Furthermore, the weight will not be affected neither. The majority of Enkei wheels are cast. Although, the generalized stereotype in the U.S. seems to be that forged is superior to cast, wheels such as the GTC-01 is equal or suprioer in strength to many other forged wheels out on the market due to Enkei's MAT technology. This MAT technology enables Enkei to produce wheels in which both strength and lightweight attributes can coexist in a balanced manner.

And you believe that to be the gospel and not just marketing Hype on the part of Enkei?

exactly my point. this is info coming from a wheel manufacturer that does not make forged wheels and definitely is far from making the lightest ones around. seems to me that every wheel ever made available in cast or forged is always lighter in the forged version, probably because less material was needed to maintain the rigidity of the wheel.

Great article, but sounds a bit biased to me.

Why is some of the text in Japanese characters and most of the text is in English? WTF?
