Super Lap Battle 08: Evasive Motorsports
A year has gone by and it was time for another Super Lap Battle at the infamous Buttonwillow Raceway in Bakersfield, CA.
Last Years Super Lap Battle Action @ Speedhunters.com
Evasive Motorsports was back again this year with their Voltex Equipped Evo, a pair of S2000s (Kel & Ken) and Civic Si in the street class.
I drove Ken's Evasive S2000 placed 2nd in Street FR behind a supra (4 or 500hp+) with a time of 1:58.3. Ken's Evasive S2000 has become the first S2000 to break the 2min. barrier on street tires at BW CW13!
Specs:
Engine: Stock
J's Racing Intake, Stock Exhaust Manifold & ECU, Evasive 70-REM Exhaust (Modified for Competition)
Aero: Ken/Kel Spec. Custom Front Splitter, Voltex Type 4 Wing
Suspension: Tein Super Racing Dampers (Evasive Adjusted)
Evasive Motorsports Alignment
Tires: 255/40/17 Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec. on RE30s
Kel also ran his car and ran his personal best of 2:01 on a year old, worn Advan Neova. Special thanks to Kel for giving his time and go fast parts to the blue Evasive S2000.
Other Drives:
Fellow S2000 Owner, Tim (Stinkytofu) also drove the Evasive Evo this time. I drove the Evo last year (2007) and won the overall Limited Class. This year, Tim blew away the competition with a lap time of 1:50, a new course record for the Limited Class.
Voltex Sponsored Evasive Evo
Race battery.. sigh PUSH!
Tim also scored an another 1st place finish in the Limited FF Class in the Sports Car Motion Civic EG. with a time of 1:55 and received an award for the fastest limited NA of the day.
I also co-drove Evasive Motorsports Civic Si sedan in the Street FF class and took home the win with a time of 2:03. Not bad for a stock motor K20!
Special Thanks to SP Engineering & Tein USA for their technical support.
Botrh the Evo, S2000 and the Civic Sedan ran on Tein SRC & Monoflex (Civic) Dampers
Tomei / Cusco / Voltex Suzuka Sti:
Another eye candy at the track was the Tomei / Cusco / Voltex Suzuka Sti from Japan.
It took the top time of the day and came within 2 seconds of last years overall winner: HKS Evo. Very fast for a street based car with H-patter shifter and OEM door panels.
Aero tested and developed by Voltex
Other Pictures:
Fast Elise Specialist: Trackhq.com 1:58 on street tires...
Cwest was rockin'
Results:
1st Place Limited AWD: Evasive Motorsports Evo 9: 1:50 (Stinkytofu)
1st Place Limited FF: Sports Car Motion EG: 1:55 (Stinkytofu)
1st Place Street FF: Evasive Motorsports Civic: 2:03 (maxrev & owner of Evasive: Mike C.)
2nd Place Street FR: Evasive S2000: 1:58 (maxrev)
Sports Car Motion EG Civic: Fastest Limited NA Award
At the end of the day.. S2000 owners / track junkies collected... plastics and pieces metal.
See you on the track!
Unfortunately, AJR S2000 didn't make it to this event as it has reached the limit as a street registered and street drivable limited FR car. However, it may come back if an another Limited s2000 over-writes our lap time of 1:54.888.
1:54.888 lap time of AJ-Racing S2000 from last year was not beaten by any of the Limited FR entries. Not bad for a 240whp Street car...

It was super nice to finally meet you in person Rob! Holding on to the Limited FR record says a lot
Congrats to the Evasive Team! New records...Podium finishes...and a lot of pride for S2000 owners to toot their horns about
It was eating me alive not being able to drive all day. Maybe I'll try to enter next year......

congrats maxrev and stinkytofu on your 1st place finishes. i was definately impressed with tim's performance piloting the evo, although why the sudden driver change?
we were hoping to defend the overall street class title but sadly our car had to retire after the 1st lap of the 1st heat. stock evo clutch on 44k miles with 420+ awhp = bad.
i was also really hoping the see what the cusco/tomei/voltex impreza could pull off on the last heat. too bad they had drivetrain issues.
dang! i just realized that AJR s2k didnt compete slb this year...
