Hey guys I just installed my Christmas present to myself (it came early smile.gif) a slightly used (S2Fire of AJ-R) T1R 70EM Titanium exhaust and test pipe. He provided me with all gaskets and what not.

After installed the exhaust, I obviously decide to take it for a spin. The first 1st-2nd @ 9k shift I hear what sounds like a whoosh, or rush of air. This ONLY happened at high RPM shifts, more pronounced 1-2 though. This also happens while OFF the throttle, and immediately goes away upon applying throttle in second gear.

I don't believe it is an exhaust (air) leak seeing as I only hear it at high rpms, off the throttle.

Any help of ideas would be appreciated! emot-tip-wink.gif

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Is it still happening? And, how long was the exhaust off the other car? The only thing I could think of is the first few runs, there might have been dust and debris in there?

ok. i was asking not to insult, but because the lack of sound from an oem exhaust can sometimes cover bad shifting/gas habits...for example, pressing in the clutch and not letting off the gas fast enough, causing the rpms to jump a little before dropping and causing that woosh noise.

I had a little backfire-esque "whooshing" on my T1R 70 v3 single with test pipe. I though it sounded pretty sweet.

We'll i've only driven the car once. I posted this because I have never had this happen before. I do not know how long the exhaust was off the other car, couldn't be too long since they havent been making this exhaust for that long and he had it for 4 months.

no insult taken. no bad shifting here. The sound comes when im entirely off the throttle for a split second while changing gears. and its not an "exhaust" sound.

thanks for the ideas. keep them coming.

ill report back after a few more drives

Listen to the ARC Exhaust in the video. It's around 2:00 minutes. Does it sound like that?

You need to hear from other owners with same model exhaust.

Could be that your moving air more efficently, both in and out that it's making more noise

okay after driving more today, it is seemingly normal during regular/moderately spirited driving.

I did a 9k 2nd-3rd shift and its a tissss sound. having owned 2 turbocharged cars, it was similar to a blow off sound.

Im going to have my dad next to me on the road and see if he can better diagnose, otherwise he can take a video and I can get ya'll's opinion.

**exhaust (otherwise) sounds very good, little to no drone, and noticeable power gain on the butt dyno.

drove today with the top down and it sounds more like a high pitch buzz while the rev's drop in between shifts from 9k to 6.5-7k.

it's gonna sound a little raspy especially since you have a test pipe. Does it happen when you lift off the throttle?

I installed mine last night but only tested it out for about 30 mins, and I didn't notice anything. However I'm also not use to the loudness of it, so once I get use to that I will listen out for any other noises ha.

I have the SS version though.
