Default Adjustable roof catches

I was asked to put up a 'how to' when I posted about mending a roof catch and making it adjustable.
Now no need for new striker plates or bits of plastic tube on the hook!

It is done simply by slotting the mounting holes.
Any wear in the striker plates can then be taken up and more pressure put on the seals to make the roof quieter and more waterproof.

I made the hole 1/8th inch longer at the front of the hole so the catch can be moved back.
On my roof adjustment is perfect about half way along the slot.

I've used stainless steel M6 20mm x 5mm Allen bolts to re fix although M6 16mm would be long enough. Not enough clearance for a washer on the rear bolt.

Hopefully the pictures make it pretty much self explanatory.

Use a mole grip clamped on a screwdriver to undo the cross head screws.
This makes it much easier to undo stubborn screws.

Marked 1/8th inch and centre punched.

Dremel with tungsten carbide cutter.

Update: Bolts later replaced with this type + washer as they give better clearance.

I used regular bolts instead for of the Hex bolt, you can still get great purchase on them with a socket to get them tight but they take up less room below the catch. Thanks for the guide.
