I know the laws of physics and I know what you are saying.......HPx5252/RPM. I know more than you may think I do. This graph you see that I posted is very deceiving and is basically stretched out and flattened. I can go back to the dyno and pull up a graph that is more normal that people see and you will see the increase in hp more on it or the way the curve goes up more than out. The only reason why the HP stays more or less consistant throughout a wide band is because my turbo is running out of steam and I lose 3 psi at the top end. And you do know why that number 5252 is used correct? It's the point at which all engines cross their TQ and HP curves. Yes indeed it is, and you have a point about the curve being hard to really judge from the appearance. However, when the curve power curve is going slightly downwards(Which is easy to spot), the torque will be dropping quite significantly.
When I tuned my first project I didn't have electronic boost control, which resulted in a powercurve that was kinda flat from 5000 and up. I was very unhappy with the tune overall as the car went like mad at 4500-7000, but really felt mild above that. This was a lower power level than you are running tho, so the effect may be experienced as worse with smaller power. As long as you are happy about the curve its a good curve right? |

Don't look at the whole upper HP graph, look at the AF at the bottom. See where it stops? Thats where my 9100 rpm redline is. draw a straight line up to the HP graph. Now, look at where the HP starts falling off, thats about 8000 rpm and where my boost started falling to 25 psi. 8000 to 9100 rpm is 1100 rpm of fall off on the graph and isn't much to me at all and frankly, I can't even tell at all when driving. We are going to be adding another spring in the wastegate to up it to 16 psi spring today and may put it back on the dyno to see if it will hold 28 psi to 9100 rpm.

first off dyno's over mph are annoying, post it over RPM so we can all see what's really happening
just because the power flattens a little up top doesn't mean it's the end of the world. in the end power under the curve gets you down the track faster, more power under the curve, the faster you're going -------------------- 2005 S2000 - Stolen, thieves suck.

They always come out over MPH instead of RPM when the RPM sensor gets screwed up. You also lose the torque curve, since that's calculated from RPM on a dyno... |

If you look at the dyno sheet of the stock S making 701 whp with a bigger turbo than mine, youll notice we are making about the same TQ. |

Thanks guys. About the dyno sheet over rpm, we tried that. But because we kept losing rpm signal after about 7500 rpm, it was all screwed up. So we had to just leave it over mph which kinda stretches the graph out and makes things look flat. Im going to go over there and see if we can figure a way to show the rpm graph to show TQ and all but i doubt we ca do it without it being screwed up and the numbers wrong.
