Holy cow poop! That sure looks slow but i know I was outrunning everyone else in the class. That was before I found an extra set of wheels for race rubber and Dan's wife was helping in the search for them. I was running on the cheapest set of Kumho's I could find and corded them in less than 3000 miles.
The runways at Bronson weren't great but the grass usually wasn't all that bad. We spent 1000's of hours keeping it up. There were miles of runways and the one where the start /finsh line was wasn't the longest. Still on that runway my car saw 138 MPH a number of times when I used it to blow the dirt off the track. In the spring when the grass started to grow we big have to really battle it. The runways were over 150 feet wide and the shortest of them was 7/10's of a mile long. Weedeating wouldn't do it either. We pulled railroad rails behind our trucks for hours almost every month. -------------------- CG Swift SE3/DB6 Formula 2000 2000 S2000 sadly retired

Topper, here's another one. It's from 4/23/00 and the course was dry.

I can't get the video to load because of internet problems...
That's a day we'll never forget. It was the very first day we were going to autocross the car at Bronson, Easter Sunday 2000. I ran in the first heat and my wife was going to run in the 2nd heat. She was running over to the car near the port-a-potties and caught her toe in one of the cracks in the pavement. She fell hard breaking her arm badly. I got her into the car and drove over to tell people we had to go to the hospital. I remember I handed my helmet to someone and told them to keep it for me. My poor wife had to wait a few months before she was able to autocross it. |

I finally got to see the video! That sure makes me miss dirty ol Bronson. That was so much longer and faster than the place we have to autocross now. I really miss needing at least 3 gears on every course.

Since we're fielding 40 person fields now, does that give us a budget that might open up other course options to us? I'd love a bigger, more versatile place.

Not really. The issue has been finding a place that will allow us to run more than the cost. We were sometimes fielding over 100 cars at Bronson with everyone getting six 90 second +/- runs. the place was hard on tires but it was a great site.
