Hi,

i recently installed a brand new OEM lip and the colour seems to be very different from the rest of the car. There is only 1 white for the S2K being GPW and it stated so on the box.

I bought my car brand new a little over a year ago and has not been resprayed. Paint is as new, has not been parked on the sun or even seen rain. Currently got a few layers of P21S over it.

Any other GPW owners give some feedback? Thanks.

have you ever polished the car? maybe a good light polishing using a blue pad and some menzerna micro-polish will help restore your white to its former glory.

is there any spots on the white paint where it seems to "yellow at all? also have you ever clayed it?

On my GPW the bumper is almost like a yellowy white compared to the lip...I bought my lip last year and noticed the color difference too. I just ignore the fact that its off lol But it generally seems to be that on cloudy days and in the shade and such when it shows the most. Its definitely not as noticeable outside on a sunny day.

Thanks for the replies. I have polished the car once due to the stupid dealer delivering the car with swirls in it. Gone over with Mazerna PO85RD intensive polish with an orange pad and then white pad with final finish.

Forgot to mention that the car has <5000km's on it so this is as factory paint as it can get.

I purchased the OEM red lip years ago. It doesn't match my car's red paint either. Not too far off, but definitely not a match.

Thanks for the replies, looks like I will just have to live with it until I scrap the crap outta it and need a respray.

alot of things on the s2k don't seem to match actually, VERY noticeable on suzuka. anything thats plastic is a noticeably different color than anything thats metal, however, your problem is 2 non metal pieces looking a different color, but i guess if others are having the same problem, then there isn't much you can do i guess. it might only look that way in certain lighting as well

I'm not sure if this article applies to you because the car is so new, but check this out: A Lesson From White Paint

Paints will almost always looks different even though they are the "same color" if painted at different times. All factory paints have + and - levels which are considered acceptable. This is the main reason quality body shops will replace your fender (from collision etc.) but paint the fender part of the door and part of the hood while blending the new paint with the old to minimize the hard edge contrasts caused otherwise. So most of the time there will be differences. I suggest getting the entire car painted after you put that new wide body kit on it. smile.gif

i've also noticed this on my suzuka. the bumpers don't match perfectly because of painted metal or plastic. i had my ap2 front and hardtop painted and it came out damn perfect

Yea, I realize that paint will not match 100% but if you look in the picture there it is quite a bit off in colour (probably due to that certain lighting condition, overcast and about to rain).

What wide bodykit? smile.gif

i think you should claybar your car and see if it helps. couldn't white cars yellow slightly even with good upkeep? my wheels are yellowing and they are stock ssr paint.
